SUMMARY:Mpls: GAYLE at Know Name Records (Aug 28\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:GAYLE \nFriday\, August 28\, 2026\nat Know Name Records\nknowname.com\n\nMeet GAYLE and get her autograph for the new album Observing Chaos at Know Name Records on August 28th\, in Minneapolis. The album comes out officially on September 18th.\n\n\n Know Name Records6009 Portland Ave\, Minneapolis\, MN 55417Friday 8/28\, 4:30pm – 6:30pm CT\n\n\n \n\n Gayle \n\n\nWe saw Gayle headline in November 2023 and wrote\, ““Gen-Z”er Gayle closed out the all-ages show. She’s dressed in fishnet stockings\, with black underwear\, and an oversized T-Shirt with a picture of a butt with a tattoo that says “Gayle”. She was so happy to see various Gayle shirts in the audience. This is because they’ve been touring in and out\, and her loyal fanbase would support her from various shows. The highlight of the show was her interaction with her fans. She got a cat sticker for her guitar\, and while talking to her fans\, she found out that two of them had November 1st as their birthdays… so she had everyone sing “Happy Birthday to You” to the two girls. A couple of covers on her set. One of them was Pink’s “Get the Party Started.” Gayle probably paid tribute Pink because the pop star asked Gayle to be her special guest in the UK on Pink’s Summer Carnival 2023.”\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Minnesota State Fair (Aug 27-Sep 7\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Explore More\n■ Minnesota State FairThe Minnesota State Fair is the state fair of the U.S. state of Minnesota. Also known by its slogan\, “The Great Minnesota Get-Together”\, it is the largest state fair in the United States by average daily attendance and the second-largest state fair in the United States by total attendance\, trailing only the State Fair of Texas\, which generally runs twice as long as the Minnesota State Fair.\n\n\n\n\n\nAugust 27\, 2026-September 7\, 2026\nMinnesota State Fair\nat Minnesota State Fairgrounds\nmnstatefair.org\n\nThe great Minnesota Get-Together\, Minnesota State Fair was voted #1 best fair in the country two years in a row by USA Today (2025-2026) (I wonder where Donald Trump’s poorly attended Great American State Fair rank). There’s no doubt about it\, the annual Minnesota State Fair is the largest in the country\, and it’s all good times with music and entertainment.\n\n \n\n\nWe went in Oct 2025 and wrote\, ““I’ve never sang in front of pork chops smoke before\,” Ber said on her first set at the MPR stage\, at the great get-together\, the Minnesota State Fair\, on a hot Sunday. Unlike her previous appearances\, such as her first show at First Avenue\, with Sigrid\, in Oct 2022\, this Minnesota State Fair show is all acoustic. Not great\, as the acoustic music\, mostly handled by Brian\, does not drown out all the excitement of the spin-the-wheel next door. We previously mentioned that Ber (originally from Minnesota) moved to London and was ‘discovered’ by Zane Lowe and Travis Mills of Beats 1 and BBC Radio One. When we saw her in 2022\, we mentioned that she was working on her debut EP. That EP was called And I’m Still Thinking About That\, and since then\, she’s released Halfway and Room For You (her latest)… We also got the secret story behind “Your Internet Sucks”\, which I’ve always thought was about a British boy that she dated for a year. She tells us one time she was making homemade potato gnocchi for his visit. She said it would take a good three hours to get it ready\, and he showed up after driving an hour. He wanted to rest\, so she left him alone for a few hours. When she finally came to get him\, the whole time he was playing Fortnite on his iPad. Anyway\, the song wishes that he has all the inconvenience of life… including the curse of bad internet. That’s cold\, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. She ended her set with “Whatever Forever”\, with Eric on tambourine. Of course\, this was the great Minnesota State Fair\, one of the largest\, if not the largest?\, in the country\, and draws in thousands of Minnesotans. There are plenty of entertainment\, fun for the whole family!”\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Mpls: Slow Magic at 7th St Entry (Aug 27\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Slow Magic at 7th St Entry (Aug 27\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 27\, 2026 Thursday\nSlow Magic\nat 7th St Entryfirst-avenue.com\n\nSlow Magic returns to Minnesota\, headlining the 7th Street Entry\, in Minneapolis\, on August 27\, 2026.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe saw Slow Magic in May 2015 and wrote\, “Opening up the show was Slow Magic. After randomly catching this electronic / tribal / dance / DJ act in 2013\, I was excited to see them on the bill. Of course\, I knew what to expect: pulse-pounding double floor tom drums and that distinctive color-changing custom fox mask he wears. Like Daft Punk\, Slow Magic does not want you to know what he looks like without his mask. Slow Magic played a lot of songs from his latest How to Run Away\, including “Waited 4 U”. Midway into his set\, he took one of the tom into the crowd\, which despite an incredibly packed dancefloor\, the audience made room. Although the mask is visually really cool\, I’m sure he has some regrets about it. First of all\, it probably gets hot under the mask (which covers his entire head) and especially because he’s constantly dancing and moving and sweating. Midway in his set\, he stepped back\, turned his back from the audience and drank a full bottle of water. Secondly\, he has trouble seeing objects\, and often stares intently at his Apple Mac Book to queue up the next song\, etc. It may be worth it all in the end to produce a very memorable impression on the audience.”\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Rescheduled: Mo Lowda & The Humble at Fine Line (Aug 25\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Mo Lowda & The Humble at Fine Line (Aug 25\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 25\, 2026 Tuesday Mo Lowda & The Humble\nwith Beemerat Fine Line\nfirst-avenue.com\n We originally mentioned this Mo Lowda & the Humble show back in September 28\, 2025. At the very last minute\, it was moved to this week (a year later). The original explanation:\n\n\nMinneapolis – we are extremely bummed to have to postpone tonight’s show at Fine Line to a later date TBD. Jordan woke up with no voice this morning after feeling like it was burning out near the end of last night’s set. We RARELY ever do 5 shows in a row and that’s by design. 4 days max\, with some rest days in between has always felt like the magic number for maintaining vocal strength and health. Scheduling and tour routing this first week had us make an exception to that rule and unfortunately the smart move for the longevity of his voice and the rest of this tour is to sit this one out and not push through\, risking further damage. \nWe love Minneapolis and always have the best crowds there and we absolutely hate to have to postpone shows\, but we’re already working with the venue to find a reschedule date for when we can give you the set you all deserve. We plan to announce that in the next 1-2 weeks. All tickets will still be honored if you’d like to hang onto yours – if not\, they can be refunded at point of purchase. We thank you for your understanding and continued support and we will see you soon. ❤️\nJordan\, Shane\, Jeff & Kirby\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nWe saw Mo Lowda in April 2023 and wrote: “Despite the freeze and snow (in mid-April!)\, fans lined up outside the Entry to try to get in to see Mo Lowda and the Humble\, which is a good sign for this dynamic\, progressive alternative rock band. Speaking of the weather\, the band (which started as a trio song singer/songwriter Jordan Caiola\, drummer Shane Woods\, and bassist Nate Matulis) gained notice when they signed to Bell Tower Records\, to release their debut album Curse The Weather\, in 2013. Now the group expanded with touring member Kirby Sybert\, for their new album self-titled album and touring strong and building up a strong fanbase from across the country. Speaking to some new fans\, they’ve never seen Mo Lowda before\, but through word of mouth\, they decided to come check out the band. If they love the band\, they’re going to spread the word to their friends… and that’s the best kind of advertisement. ”\n\nBeemer to open.\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

DESCRIPTION:Save Ferris at Jack Rabbits (Aug 22\, 2026)\n\nAugust 22\, 2026 SaturdaySave Ferriswith Lady Ybor and Quit Everythingat Jack Rabbitsjaxlive.com\n\n90s Ska band Save Ferris returns to Jack Rabbits on August 22\, 2026.\n\n\n Save Ferris at Jack Rabbits (May 13\, 2025) \n\n\nThe band was last seen at Jack Rabbits on May 13\, 2025: “Since Save Ferris emerged from the 90s\, you would expect the audience to be in their 50’s\, but it was surprisingly to see some teenagers in the audience. Perhaps they’re children of those older original fans… but it was still nice to see a different generation showing up to hear ska/punk music. Singer and band leader\, Monique Powell\, in red hair and blue dress\, was the center of attention. All eyes were on her\, as she directs the audience to hands up or dance. To get a better idea of their show\, read about May 1\, 2025 appearance. According to the band\, the Jacksonville show was their first time they played the city as a headliner. They mentioned that they may have stopped through as part of the Warped Tour. Often with those touring music festival\, the band gets lost in a sea of 100 other bands\, so as headliner\, it was a one-to-one with their fans.”\n\n\nLady Ybor and Quit Everything to open.\n\n\nTour Dates\n\n\n\nJul 18\, 2026: Colorado Springs\, CO – Black Sheep\nJul 19\, 2026: Denver\, CO – Oriental Theater\nJul 22\, 2026: Reno\, NV – Club Underground\nJul 23\, 2026: San Luis Obispo\, CA – SLO Brew Rock\nJul 31\, 2026: Roseville\, CA – Goldfield Trading Post\nAug 01\, 2026: Menlo Park\, CA – The Guild Theatre\nAug 05\, 2026: Ferndale\, MI – The Magic Bag\nAug 09\, 2026: South Burlington\, VT – Higher Ground Showcase Lounge\n\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

The mellow night started off with special guest Dave Simonett\, of Trampled By Turtles\, doing a solo set. In contrast\, The Pines had a full band with them. Then about four songs into their set\, they added a mandolin player\, as well as a cellist. It was really funny\, because the scarecrow they had behind them almost fell down a couple times. I have seen them about three times\, and I have to say it was a good performance. They commented on how they love playing at the Cedar. For their last few songs\, they had two band members from Trampled By Turtles joined them on stage for a fun jamboree.”\n\nThe Nunnery to open.\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

DESCRIPTION:FINICK at 7th St Entry (Aug 22\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 22\, 2026 Saturday\n FINICK\nwith Sallyforth\, Lone Rock Bride and Woodzenat 7th St Entry\nfirst-avenue.com\n\nFINICK will be headlining the 7th Street Entry\, in Minneapolis\, on August 22\, 2026.\n\n\nSallyforth\, Lone Rock Bride and Woodzen to open. \n\n FINICK at 7th Street (Jan 8\, 2026) \n\n\nWe saw Finick in Jan 2026 and wrote\, “Up to finish the evening was FINICK\, the stage name for singer\, songwriter and college student Josie Hasnik. The new album Weekends in Purgatory is already FINICK’s second and was the central feature of the evening’s set. The band got moving pretty quickly and the quartet (vocals/guitar\, guitar/fiddle\, bass\, and drums) opened with a folk Americana sound in No Name and Hasnik impressed right away with strong vocals. A switch to fiddle made for Busy and Bored and was very folk sounding. Between that great bass work and FINICK’s almost drawled vocals\, this had a bit more Americana feel than the earlier bands\, and that was before the fiddle got fully plugged in and going. Going into “an especially fiddly song”\, Captain Tory had an Irish folk song feel and FINICK was demonstrating some real range in those early numbers. Even as fiddle was replaced again by guitar\, it was straight into the slide effect\, further cementing the folk Americana sound.”\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Mpls: Meltt at Turf Club (Aug 19\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Meltt at Turf Club (Aug 19\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 19\, 2026 Wednesday\nMeltt\nwith Los Eclipsesat Turf Clubfirst-avenue.com\n\nMeltt is headlining the Turf Club\, in St Paul\, on August 19\, 2026.\n\n\n Meltt \n\n\nWe saw Meltt in Oct 2025 and wrote\, “Headliner Meltt was up next. The Vancouver band self-describes with the great\, “Let them sonically paint your soundscape and sweep you into an ethereal dream”. With a number of EPs and two albums\, most recently 2023’s Eternal Embers\, the quartet (vocals/guitar\, guitar/keyboards\, bass/keyboards\, and drums) was very multi-talented\, with band members taking on different instruments across or within songs as needed. They had a slowly building instrumental intro as they got going. They also had a pretty rock & roll lifestyle lighting set up\, with eight lights spread across the stage. Each was roughly the size and shape of an overhead tube lightbulb you would see in any business\, except they were stood on end and could do a large number of color and pattern effects. The song Wash Over Me was a good mix of reverb and straight up rock and those lighting effects within songs were pretty top notch\, switching light levels and colors throughout. Lead singer Chris Smith’s bright tenor vocals were well matched to the dreamy rock sound of the band\, and Do You Ever Wonder? was a hit with the crowd with almost an electronic dance rhythm to it.”\n\nTour Dates\n\n\n\nAug. 14\, 2026 Calgary\, AB Commonwealth Bar & Stage\nAug. 15\, 2026 Edmonton\, AB The Starlite Room\nAug. 17\, 2026 Winnipeg\, MB Sidestage\nAug. 18\, 2026 Fargo\, ND The Aquarium\nAug. 19\, 2026 St Paul\, MN Turf Club\nAug. 20\, 2026 Chicago\, IL Lincoln Hall\nAug. 21\, 2026 Ferndale\, MI The Loving Touch\nAug. 22\, 2026 Toronto\, ON The Mod Club\nAug. 24\, 2026 Ottawa\, ON The 27 Club\nAug. 25\, 2026 Montreal\, QC La Sala Rossa\nAug. 27\, 2026 Cambridge\, MA The Sinclair\nAug. 28\, 2026 New York\, NY Bowery Ballroom\nAug. 29\, 2026 Philadelphia\, PA The Foundry at The Fillmore Philadelphia\nAug. 30\, 2026 Washington\, DC The Atlantis\nSep. 1\, 2026 Durham\, NC Motorco Music Hall\nSep. 2\, 2026 Asheville\, NC The Grey Eagle\nSep. 3\, 2026 Nashville\, TN The Blue Room\nSep. 4\, 2026 Atlanta\, GA Purgatory at The Masquerade\nSep. 5\, 2026 Orlando\, FL The Social\nSep. 7\, 2026 Houston\, TX Meow Wolf Houston’s Radio Tave\nSep. 8\, 2026 Austin\, TX Antone’s\nSep. 9\, 2026 Denton\, TX Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio\nSep. 10\, 2026 Ciudad De México\, Mexico House of Vans\nSep. 12\, 2026 Denver\, CO Bluebird Theater\nSep. 13\, 2026 Santa Fe\, NM Meow Wolf\nSep. 14\, 2026 Phoenix\, AZ Crescent Ballroom\nSep. 16\, 2026 San Diego\, CA Quartyard\nSep. 17\, 2026 Los Angeles\, CA Lodge Room Highland Park\nSep. 18\, 2026 Ojai\, CA Ojai Deer Lodge\nSep. 19\, 2026 Felton\, CA Felton Music Hall\nSep. 20\, 2026 San Francisco\, CA Great American Music Hall\nSep. 22\, 2026 Portland\, OR Polaris Hall\nSep. 23\, 2026 Seattle\, WA Neumos\nOct. 2\, 2026 Vancouver\, BC Commodore Ballroom\nNov. 21\, 2026 Victoria\, BC Capital Ballroom\n \n\n \nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:POW! When UK Punk Went Pop\, 1980-84 (Aug 18\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:POW! When UK Punk Went Pop\, 1980-84\nA memoir by Tony Fletcher \nOut August 18th \nBefore authoring eleven books\, including best-selling biographies of Who drummer Keith Moon\, R.E.M. and the Smiths\, Tony Fletcher was a teenaged music magazine publisher (Jamming!) in his native England. But\, with a degree of industry that sounds absolutely exhausting\, he also ran a record label\, interviewed rock stars\, led a band\, promoted concerts\, worked as an on-air TV interviewer — and still found time for romance. \nFletcher chronicled the early days of his life and career in Boy About Town (2013)\, but he went on to have many more extraordinary experiences\, which are detailed in this colorful and engaging memoir\, where the story gets really interesting. \n1980–’84 was an explosive time in British rock\, as the disruptive energy of bands like the Clash and Sex Pistols gave way to more sophisticated and chart-friendly genres and bands. Fletcher was on the front lines\, attending all the important concerts and meeting the top acts\, many of whom became MTV regulars: Madness\, Dexy’s Midnight Runners\, Wham!\, the Human League\, Echo and the Bunnymen\, Killing Joke Adam and the Ants. Then there’s the time he interviewed Paul McCartney… \nThis is a coming of age story\, the tale of a naïve young man in a cultural whirlwind who learns some hard lessons about business\, journalism\, love and sex – all the while trying to get his own band a record deal. \npaperback $22.95 ISBN 979-8-9990487-7-6\neBook $8.95 ISBN 979-8-9938678-0-9 \nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Jax: Squeeze at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre (Aug 18\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Squeeze at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre (Aug 18\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 18\, 2026 Tuesday \nSqueeze\nwith Bodybox\, Maul\, and Eternalat St. Augustine Amphitheatretheamp.com\n\n English rock band Squeeze is bringing their feel-good Summer show to St Augustine Amphitheatre\, in St Augustine\, on August 18\, 2026. The tour will also include other favorites like Adam Ant and Haircut 100.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe saw Squeeze in Sep 2019 and noted\, “As for beloved UK band Squeeze\, it’s truly a delight to see the band return in full electric gear and playing many of their biggest hits from the late 70s and through the 80s. Eager fans cheered at hearing the opening notes to such hits as “Cool for Cats”\, “Tempted”\, or “Another Nail in My Heart” (many of which landed in the second half of their long setlist. Most of their songs were lyrically written by Chris Difford\, with music added by Glenn Tilbrook\, much like the Morrissey and Johnny Marr collaboration in The Smiths\, so it’s probably better to compare Squeeze to The Smiths\, rather than The Beatles … but they are often compared to John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Unless you’re a music Anglophile\, chances are you probably haven’t heard of Squeeze. It’s really a shame\, because their songs are so catchy and fun… but it’s a rarity that that modern American radio would even play their music. Having said that\, they did have a hit with “Tempted” and “Hourglass” in the USA. Unfortunately\, by 1982\, they broke up … but then reformed in 1985\, and then breaking up again in 1999.”\n\nYou know what is funny is that Haircut 100 was recently ‘slandered’ by Morrissey\, who said\, “Beyond playing the music\, nobody else had one single idea – but the writer Gareth Roberts took it too far when he recently said: “Remove Morrissey from the Smiths and you are left with Haircut 100”” in his rant against the BBC.\n\n\nHaircut 100 Live Dates\n\n\n\nJul 17 – Hampton\, UK – Hampton Court Picnic Concert\nJul 25 – Dundee\, UK – 80s Calling!\nAug 8 – Darlington\, UK – Discovery Festival \nWith Squeeze and Adam Ant:\nAug 18 – St. Augustine\, FL – The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\nAug 19 – Clearwater\, FL – BayCare Sounds\nAug 20 – Hollywood (Miami)\, FL – Hard Rock Hollywood\nAug 22 – Atlanta\, GA – The Fox Atlanta\nAug 23 – Cary\, NC – Koka Booth Amp\nAug 24 – Richmond\, VA – The National\nAug 26 – Boston\, MA – MGM Music Hall\nAug 29 – New York\, NY – Radio City Music Hall\nAug 31 – Toronto\, ON – RBC Amp (formerly Budweiser)\nSep 1 – Detroit\, MI – The Masonic Temple\nSep 3 – Vienna\, VA – Wolf Trap\nSep 4 – Huber Heights\, OH – The Rose Music Hall\nSep 5 – St. Louis\, MO – Saint Louis Music Park\nSep 6 – Highland Park\, IL – Ravinia\nSep 8 – Denver\, CO – Fiddlers Green\nSep 11 – Redmond\, WA – Marymoor Live\nSep 12 – Portland\, OR – Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall\nSep 13 – Vancouver\, BC – Queen Elizabeth Theatre\nSep 15 – Saratoga\, CA – Saratoga Winery\nSep 16 – Napa\, CA – Meritage Resort\nSep 17 – Las Vegas\, NV – The Pearl\nSep 20 – Phoenix\, AZ – The Mesa Amp\nSep 22 – Grand Prairie\, TX – Texas Trust\nSep 24 – Indianapolis\, IN – Murat Theatre\nSep 25- Cleveland\, OH – Jacobs Pavilion\nSep 26 – Louisville\, KY Bourbon & Beyond \nNick Heyward Solo:\nMay 3 – Huddersfield\, UK – Let’s Rock\nJun 27 – Leeds\, UK – 80s Classical\nFeb 27 – Mar 6- 80s Cruise (New Orleans – Mexico – Belize – New Orleans) \n\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Mpls: The Crane Wives at First Avenue (Aug 15\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:The Crane Wives at First Avenue (Aug 15\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 15\, 2026 Saturday The Crane Wives\nwith Bryeat First Avenue\nfirst-avenue.com\n\nThe Crane Wives will be returning to Minnesota\, stopping by First Avenue\, on August 15\, 2026.\n\n\nIn related news\, The Crane Wives’ Emilee Petersmark announced a new solo debut projected\, under the stagename Lee Emi. Her song “Black Hole” can be see on YouTube. Stay tuned for more details later this year.\n\nThe ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household\, or to game the system in any way\, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.\n\n\n\n The Crane Wives at Palace Theatre\, St Paul MN (July 12\, 2025) \n\n\nWe saw The Crane Wives in July 2025 and wrote\, “They had a brilliantly dramatic set up before getting started\, building the crowd anticipation up before ever coming on stage. But when they did\, it was a stunning opening and Scars was outstanding. Petersmark and Pillsbury played excellently off each other and although one of them may have lead vocals\, their comfort in sharing lead was extremely obvious. The crowd\, particularly the younger teens in the front section were singing along to nearly every song. Bitter Medicine was alarmingly good\, with Petersmark’s “bull sh*t” lyric hitting hard. As the band rolled into older material\, Allies or Enemies had the audience in full throated sing along mode\, with Pillsbury thanking them for joining in. We also got a brief moment as they asked how many people were at their first The Crane Wives concert\, with many hands and screams. A quick question followed if it was anyone’s first ever concert and a surprising number of hands went back in the air. With a “We’ll try to make it a good one”\, the band was back in full action and I can’t find enough ways to say it was simply tremendous.”\n\nBrye to open.\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Mpls: Summer Jam at Armory (Aug 15\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Summer Jam\nPresented by: BMN Entertainment\nLineup: G Herbo\, K Camp\, Hunxho\, + more!\nSaturday\, August 15\, 2026\nAll ages\nDoors at 6:30 // Show at 8:00 \nhttps://armorymn.com/events/summer-jam/ \nToday\, Detroit rapper Skilla Baby leans into his smooth side on “Face Card” featuring Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller. The slinky bedroom cut reminds us that Skilla is ambitious in every mode\, whether spitting raw bars or holding his own with two modern R&B giants. The new single hails from Skilla’s highly anticipated new album The Price Of Fame\, dropping July 31 via Geffen Records. Pre-save HERE and listen to “Face Card” HERE. \nWith production from Hitmaka (Big Sean\, Lil Wayne) and Aye YB (Ty Dolla $ign\, Kevin Gates)\, “Face Card” is about as luxe as it gets: pillowy layers of deep bass\, aqueous melody\, and silken vocals. Tiller takes the hook (“Said her face card 10\, you the baddest one”)\, and Brown delivers the soaring final verse\, but Skilla anchors the whole thing. His cool delivery lands between their fiery come-ons\, making his pick-up lines hit different: “You too pretty to be trippin’\, you ain’t post to be crying / If they ever say you ugly\, tell them b—–s they lyin’ / I turned your Cartier to a Patek\, I ain’t wasting your time / Girl\, you only twentysomething\, it ain’t even your prime.” \n“Face Time” is a change of pace after last month’s “GYSM” (“get you some money”)\, a lushly produced love song to stacking cash that followed to March’s “West to East” featuring 42 Dugg\, a streetwise ode to resilience and dominance. That uncompromising cut cemented the creative camaraderie between the two Motor City greats\, who linked up earlier this year on Dugg’s celebratory single\, “Thick One.” \nAfter teasing unreleased music on his socials this year\, Skilla recently wiped the slate clean\, posting a featurette (see HERE) about the wages of fame and sparking fan speculation that something big could be coming. Over the past year or so\, the in-demand artist has mostly been spotted stretching out on features like DDG’s “gta\,” Finesse2Tymes’ “Outta My Mind\,” “NBA” with RTB MB and RTB Capo\, and EmanuelDaProphet’s “LIL ANGEL ‘SHE HER’\,” among others. Last month\, he linked up with Detroit’s own Ebony Riley for the steamy “You Better Know.” \nPrior to that\, Skilla dropped his Crack Music 3 mixtape\, which included highlights like “Jwett\,” “Donavan McNabb\,” the 4Batz-assisted “So Bad\,” “Sensual” featuring Toosi\, and “Controversy 2” with Tee Grizzley. Just ahead of the release\, Skilla celebrated his birthday with a pair of hometown shows creative-directed by none other than multihyphenate powerhouse Teyana Taylor. Guests included Sada Baby\, Tee Grizzley\, G Herbo\, YTB Fatt\, Bfb Da Packman\, and more. \nAll of that followed the Deluxe Edition of The Coldest mixtape\, which dropped the same month that Skilla scored the coveted “People’s Champ” fan-voted slot on the XXL 2024 Freshman Class cover. SUMMARY:Mpls: Empire of the Sun at Mystic Lake Amphitheater (Aug 14\, 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Empire of the Sun at Mystic Lake Amphitheater (Aug 14\, 2026)\n\n\nAugust 14\, 2026 Friday\n Empire of the Sun\nat Mystic Lake Amphitheater\nfirst-avenue.com\n\nAustralia’s Empire of the Sun returns to America with their latest show called That God: Afterlife 2026.\n\n\n Empire of the Sun at the State Theatre\, Minneapolis (09/16/13) \n\n\nWe saw the band in Sep 2013 and wrote\, “Empire of the Sun started shortly after 8pm with a drummer and keyboard/bassist and two dancers\, warming up to “Lux”. Then\, like a Christ-figure\, Luke Steele is slowly risen via a platform with his helmet and costume\, as two additional dancers are revealed. What an entrance! There were a few technical difficulties plaguing the show\, including Luke Steele’s guitar not working out and microphone mix issues\, but overall\, the synchronized dancing\, light show\, smoke\, and overall theatrics made up for any issues. The thing I noticed and mentioned in the audio recording\, is that each song and set piece were all planned and designed for\, indicating to me that Luke Steele (or whoever is the creative force behind it) has this amazing vision for this band. You can tell they worked really hard on the setlist\, the dance routine and especially the costumes. It wasn’t just the band on stage\, the audience was also part of the event\, with a few fans dressing up for the occasion (the face makeup\, the funky headbands\, etc).” \n\n\n\nEMPIRE OF THE SUN FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES\n8/1 – Montreal\, QC – Osheaga\n8/7 – Aspen\, CO – Up in the Sky\n8/7 – 8/9 – San Francisco\, CA – Outside Lands \nEMPIRE OF THE SUN – ASK THAT GOD TOUR: AFTERLIFE\nPolo & Pan and Midnight Generation will support on all headline dates\n8/11 – Morrison\, CO – Red Rocks Amphitheatre\n8/14 – Shakopee\, MN – Mystic Lake Amphitheater\n8/16 – Kansas City\, MO – Morton Amphitheater\n8/18 – Milwaukee\, WI – BMO Pavilion\n8/20 – Sterling Heights\, MI – Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre\n8/21 – Cuyahoga Falls\, OH – Blossom Music Center\n8/23 – Cincinnati\, OH – Riverbend Music Center\n8/25 – Toronto\, ON – RBC Amphitheatre\n8/28 – Mansfield\, MA – Xfinity Center\n8/29 – Queens\, NY – Forest Hills Stadium\n8/30 – Wantagh\, NY – Northwell at Jones Beach Theater\n9/2 – Holmdel\, NJ – PNC Bank Arts Center\n9/4 – Columbia\, MD – Merriweather Post Pavilion\n9/5 – Philadelphia\, PA – TD Pavilion at Highmark Mann\n9/6 – Raleigh\, NC – Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek\n9/9 – Charlotte\, NC – Truliant Amphitheater\n9/10 – Richmond\, VA – Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront\n9/12 – Birmingham\, AL – Coca-Cola Amphitheater\n9/13 – Alpharetta\, GA – Ameris Bank Amphitheatre\n9/16 – Miami\, FL – FPL Solar Amphitheater\n9/17 – Tampa\, FL – MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre\n9/20 – Dallas\, TX – Dos Equis Pavilion\n9/21 – Austin\, TX – Moody Center\n9/24 – Houston\, TX – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Sponsored by Huntsman\n9/26 – Rogers\, AR – Walmart AMP\n9/29 – Phoenix\, AZ – Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre\n10/1 – Salt Lake City\, UT – Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre\n10/3 – Bend\, OR – Hayden Homes Amphitheater\n10/7 – San Diego\, CA – Gallagher Square at Petco Park\n10/8 – Los Angeles\, CA – Hollywood Bowl\n10/9 – Las Vegas\, NV – PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino \n\n\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Opens in new window)\n Add Us\n \n Share on Instagram (Opens in new window)\n Instagram\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n More\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Mastodon (Opens in new window)\n Mastodon\n \n Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)\n Telegram\n \n Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window)\n Nextdoor\n Like this:Like Loading…
