I am sure for many people that the $50 single day (Saturday) is worth it for them\, but personally speaking\, if I don’t know any of the guests – I would be hesitant to spend the money.\n\n\n The Voices of Troy Baker A Q&A (09 Nov 2024) \n\n\nOf the few names I knew – one of them is the face of Ivanna Sakhno. I am not a Star Wars guy (I prefer the pre-Kelvin Timeline Star Trek) but I know she is the badass hottie villain. I wanted to get her action figure that Hasbro released a few years ago\, but never found it in stores. The other two names I recognized were Alan Tudyk (thanks to Firefly and I think he is fulfilling an obligation that he cancelled his appearance last year) and Troy Baker (thanks to all the video game voice work he’s worked on). And after a few stops and starts\, the duel ended in a tie per Sam\, a fan watching from the front row. anni xo has had quite the busy December\, releasing the EP what’s become of us and LP SOMETHING PROFOUND. They played songs from both with “Bedside Light” from the EP and “Daydream” and “Sentimental” from the LP. They play original songs\, influenced by the likes of Opeth\, Amorphis and Gojira.\nAlso on the bill is five-piece progressive metal band Uxia\, also influenced by Opeth.\n\n BlurCurve \n\nWe’ve seen alternative rock\, metal band BlurCurve a few times now\, the last being in August 2025\, where we wrote\, “Getting things kicked off was Twin Cities band BlurCurve\, a quartet with a mantra: “we like it loud and fast”. A mix of grunge and harder edged metal\, the band’s most recent album is 2023’s Pluto & The Fool. All members appropriately dressed in black\, the opening song Circular Reasoning was an epic\, and allowed singer Alythia Scully the opportunity to demonstrate that the range of vocals\, including growling and screaming\, wasn’t just the domain of male singers. They leaned into all of the metal lyrical notes and owned it in a slightly different way. That backing band (guitar\, bass\, and drums) was super solid\, and drummer Justin Szmanda was ripping it up from the go. Scully used self-described “dad jokes” as banter early on and BlurCurve had those metal grunge guitars firing on all cylinders. Guitarist Kris Heuer got a chance on vocals on the third song\, Initiation\, and both his lead and backing vocals supported Scully well. Scully\, who was constantly in motion\, did a great job of bringing attention to their band mates as needed\, while still being the center of gravity during the vocals. After pitching merch in the back (while we also had a guitar change)\, Scully stated “ironically\, this next song is about overconsumption”\, as the band launched into Vainwaste. A long guitar intro into the next number gave a great buildup to the vocals. Finishing on Holy Alms\, BlurCurve nailed an excellent opening set of power grunge.”\nFinally\, Ramsey’s Chameleon rounds out the bill. Not to be confused with Manchester’s Chameleons\, who is playing the Varsity Theater on April 2026 and definitely not to be confused with 70s/80s Minneapolis band Chameleon (Charlie Adams’ band). Led by Benjamin Orlen Roter\, who seems to love basking in the spotlight with his band\, featuring Jasper Gee Harris\, Attila Lee Anather\, and Ben Acker. We saw the band in Sep 2023 and wrote\, “Presumably to show their appreciation to their tour openers (and maybe an inside joke we didn’t all get) Quarters of Change emerged for their main set\, all wearing “I Heart NEF” white t-shirts\, and they would bring the opener back on stage to help with the set-closing\, “T Love” (an ode to the very relatable idea of ‘tough love’) so we think it was a genuine friendship formed between the two acts.
