Mpls: Smerz at The Cedar (May 22, 2026)

Norwegian duo Smerz announce their new Easy EP, out May 15 via Escho. Introducing “Spring summer,” the first single from the project, arriving in the stillness before the seasons begin to change. Alongside the new music, Smerz also share additional US tour dates for September, including a return to Los Angeles for a headline show at The Fonda, and first-time headline stops in Tucson, Dallas, and Nashville. (Full list of dates below.)
Easy is a six-track EP, which the duo describes as follows: “At the tail end of finishing Big city life last year, we made the song “Easy” and from there went off on a tangent. Many of Big city life’s songs are rooted in specific stories, this Easy EP presented itself in a more open-ended process—almost like a daily journal. It began as a snapshot of a moment, one that was about to become our spring last year, and was finished moving into spring of 2026.”
It’s already been a major year for Smerz. In March, the duo took home two of Norway’s most prestigious music honors—the Spellemann Awards, often regarded as the country’s equivalent to the Grammys—for International Success of the Year and Best Alternative Pop Album for Big city life. They also appeared on the cover of Homme Girls, shot by artist Fumiko Imano, announced upcoming support dates for Lorde in Los Angeles on May 14 and 15, and saw their breakout track “You got time and I got money” featured in The Drama.
Big city life was one of last year’s most celebrated releases, landing across a wide sweep of year-end “Best Of” lists and earning Smerz a spot as an Artist to Watch from The New York Times. Meanwhile, “You got time and I got money” continues to take on a life of its own online—captivating a global audience of cosmopolitan city-dwellers drawn to the tension between everyday reality and dreamlike escape.
