Nashville-based songwriter Stephen Day shared his latest single, “Back In My Bed,” Friday, June 10, a heart-wrenching yet infectious plea for a lover to return. Co-written and produced with Micah Tawlks (COIN/Hayley Williams) and Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves/Teddy Swims), along with Ava Suppelsa (Max McNown/Avery Anna), the track comes hot on the heels of “Rock Bottom Baby.” The two combined show off some of Day’s most confident and vibrant work to date.
With the single Stephen Day has announced a 23-date autumn tour across the U.S., kicking off October 3 in Minneapolis, and running through November 21, in Denver.
Discussing “Back In My Bed” Day notes, “This song feels like an homage to the music that made me fall in love with playing guitar and writing songs when I was a teenager. I think by nature the guitar part brought out this lyric that I think a lot of my favorite songs are built around. This idea that there’s this one person you just can’t seem to shake or forget and you hope deep down that they feel the same way too.”
A modern crooner that has been growing his fanbase since debuting with his 2015 EP Undergrad Romance and the Moses in Me while still a sophomore in college. Since then he’s released four projects including a pandemic EP, Original Songs and Sound in 2020, and three full length albums: Guess I’m Grown Now (2019), The Shapes I’m In (2021), and Gold Mine. His catalog has seen more than 190 Million streams to date, and in 2023 his song “On Top of the World” was featured in Universal Pictures’ “Strays.” Day has frequently collaborated with fellow Nashville songwriter Stephen Sanchez as well as soulful UK artist Myles Smith. In addition to his recorded music he’s been busy the last two and a half years performing across the world.
