Minneapolis radio station The Current announced the cancellation of their 21st Anniversary Celebration with Brigitte Calls Me Baby and Joseph with Colin Bracewell and DJ Jake Rudh (January 23rd). Just reading the room, I suspect this was done for the safety of the community, due to unwanted ICE activities in the city.
The Current’s statement:
This isn’t the right moment to celebrate us, so our 21st Anniversary Celebration on January 23 is canceled. Refunds are on the way.

We will continue to support coming together to be in community with music.

Radio station The Current is finally legal! Celebrate their 21st birthday at First Avenue, this January 23, 2026, with Brigitte Calls Me Baby, JOSEPH and Colin Bracewell.

We last saw The Cactus Blossoms in July 2023 and wrote, “Chicago’s Brigitte Calls Me Baby at Surly Brewing Co. in Minneapolis, as part of the special Summer of Sound set for The Current: Happy Hour. The free event was hosted by Jill Riley, who provided the soundtrack, and Brigitte Calls Me Baby provided the live set. The Current described Brigitte Calls Me Baby as a unique grade of pop, while Brody compared them to The Smiths (Morrissey).”
