Richmond-based singer Lucy Dacus is headlining the Cedar Cultural Center on October 12th. Dacus’ sophomore album Historian (Matador Records) is one of the most unanimously lauded ‘Best Albums of 2018’.

We last saw Dacus with Courtney Barnett, and Julien Baker, in July 2018 and mentioned, “Dacus seemed pretty pleased at the big crowd and thanked the audience for coming out early to see her. Then she apologized for not being Big Thief. Apparently Big Thief dropped out, so Dacus, who was already playing with Barnett and Baker for Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival 2018 the previous night, asked to “get in on this.””

Liza Anne and Sun June to open.

Lizzo

We’re very proud of local Lizzo making it “big” outside of Minneapolis. The grrrl recently premiered her single/music video for “Humanize” Video on the Guardian. Her album Big GRRRL
Oh Sees

Hopefully this is the last and final name for San Francisco’s Oh Sees. The band previously called themselves Thee Oh Sees, and before that The Oh Sees, The Ohsees, OCS (Orange County Sound), and Orinoka Crash Suite.
Gwar

GWAR fans know what to expect when they see a live GWAR show. Whether it be covered in bile and blood, or stage props that could be used in any top tier horror movie. Additionally, no two GWAR shows are the same. ….
Mt. Joy

Los Angeles by way of Philadelphia alt-folk-rockers Mt. Joy opened the evening with a forty-five minute set of new songs that properly introduced the new band, and gave these many won-over fans a chance to hear the tracks, soon to appear on their upcoming debut.

The once-Minneapolis singer Lizzo is back and she’s more popular than ever. Her two-night residency at the Armory has sold out. We saw Lizzo in Feb 2016 and mentioned, “Lizzo is not a small girl. Her tagline is “Big GRRRL, Small World”. She has curves and isn’t afraid to show them off as she proved last night when she came out in a leotard type outfit with a jacket on top. She didn’t care that her legs would jiggle as she danced. She made fun of people staring at her butt multiple times. She was beautiful and she was doing it, jiggle and all.”
