at Icehouse

Scotland’s John Douglas (of Trashcan Sinatras) will be headlining the Icehouse on October 11, 2024, in support of his eponymous debut album, via Reveal Records. The album was recorded live at Kyoti Studio in Glasgow with producer Mark Freegard (New Model Army, Lush, The Breeders, Del Amitri, Marillion).
I’m assuming Douglas will be playing solo materials, as well as fan favorite Trashcan Sinatras’ classic songs.
Trashcan Sinatras at Amsterdam Bar (12 June 2018)
|
We saw Trashcan Sinatras in Jun 2018, and wrote, “After many years away, Irvine, Scotland indie-pop/rock band The Trashcan Sinatras returned to the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in downtown St. Paul, for what’s almost become an annual visit; this time playing not one, but two albums in their entirety, along with a handful of other songs. The evening’s format would be two sets in an almost all-acoustic seated setting, with the band’s core trio of John Douglas, Paul Livingston and Frank Reader, also relating a few stories along the way.”
Lily Vakili, the frontwoman of Vakili Band, will open the show.

Joan Osborne & Joshua Radin
at Hopkins Center
hopkinsartscenter.com
American singer-songwriter Joan Osborne, known for her breakout single “One of Us,” will be playing the Hopkins Center in Hopkins, Minnesota, on October 11, 2024.
Joan Osborne at Dakota Jazz Club (30 Sep 2023)
|
We saw Joan Osborne in Sep 2023, and wrote, “Osborne’s latest album, Nobody Owns You (Womanly Hips Records) is a return to form for original songs… and they are very good, at least what I’ve heard live. “I Should’ve Danced More” is fantastic, it’s a song about some regrets she may have had. She should have danced more, she should have loved more, etc. The message is clear, do what you love while you can now. I think the song is a reflection of what happened to all of us in 2020 when the pandemic hit and we lost the ability to gather and celebrate music. In some ways, Osborne seemed so genuinely happy to be back on stage, playing live music again. She’s joined on stage by a pianist and guitarist (Jack Petruzzelli) … which she was very playful with back-and-forth guitar playing on “Trouble and Strife”.”
Joshua Radin is co-headlining.
Joshua Radin at W XYZ Bar (13 Dec 2017)
|
We saw Radin in Dec 2017 and wrote, “With winter just on the horizon on a chilly December mid-week evening, singer-songwriter Joshua Radin stopped into the intimate W XYZ Bar at the Aloft Hotel in downtown Minneapolis for a one-off acoustic performance as part of the chain’s semi-regular live music series. Radin and band had recently returned from a European tour and his following has always been steady in the area, so fans packed the lobby of the hotel just across from the site of this season’s Super Bowl for a generous hour-long acoustic performance as part of this free admission concert series.”

at Fine Line

Them Coulee Boys is returning to Minneapolis, playing the Fine Line on October 11, 2024.
Them Coulee Boys at First Ave (02 Dec 2023)
|
We saw Them Coulee Boys in Dec 2023, and wrote, “It was their third time on the First Avenue stage and Beau Janke set aside his electric banjo to say being on there was not lost on him. “We’ve been down there hoping to be up here.” They made the most of it with an electrified, rollicking good time with Janke joined by Soren Staff on guitar, Jens Staff on mandolin, Neil Krause on bass and Staš Hable on drums. Their music is infused by Americana but most definitely amped up and electrified, especially during the crowd favorite “10ft. Tall.””
Clare Doyle to open.
