TUESDAY, APRIL 29: 7TH STREET ENTRY

Way too many shows on this date. I would love to see Lisa Marie Presley at the Dakota (she’s doing a residency, but I can’t afford to see her) (UPDATE 4/29/14: Lisa Marie Presley canceled her entire tour due to health reasons.) or the Pains of Being Pure at Heart at the Triple Rock Social Club or Bombay Bicycle Club at the Varsity …. but the show I’ve already been assigned to is Peelander-Z at the 7th Street Entry. We last saw the 1975 at the Varsity Theater, where John described their show as, “… the audience was made to wait until the end to hear the band’s two biggest songs- ‘Chocolate’ with crowd chanting the “never gunna quit it” chorus back at the band and ‘Sex’, with its grinding guitar riffs, manic tempo, and get-in/get-out short-but-effective running time… “.

SATURDAY, MAY 3: MINNEAPOLIS CONVENTION CENTER

There are a couple of great shows on Saturday, including Leon Russell (with support from Riley Etheridge Jr.) at the Cedar Cultural Center and Visage at the New Skyway Lounge (they are famous for that “Fade to Grey” song). UPDATE: Visage’s show is canceled due to the closing of the Belmore/New Skyway.

I have committed myself to covering as much of Wizard World Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Convention Center from May 2-4th. (free entry with a Wizard World wristband).
