THE WIND AND THE WAVE

I was pretty happy to see that Austin based duo The Wind and The Wave (Patricia Lynn and Dwight Baker) are releasing Covers One EP on February 17th. As a cover lover, I approve of their re-imagined covers of Sia’s “Chandelier,” R. Kelly’s “Ignition,” Metric’s “Gold Guns Girls,” Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” Regina Spektor’s “You’ve Got Time”, Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” and Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me).” I love most of these songs, so I'm curious on hearing their take on the original songs.

The first time I heard of The Wind and the Wave, they opened up for Stereophonics in 2013. I saw them live again with The Colourist last year. On the latter show, they covered the Simple Minds song on their set.

Their upcoming 2015 tour will take them around the mid-west and east coast, before returning to their hometown… just in time for SXSW 2015.

My fascination with Italian Prog-Rock band Goblin (and film scores in general) began right after my first viewing of Dario Argento's Tenebre. The giallo was pretty good, but I couldn't get the dramatic, porno-disco …

THE POP GROUP

thepopgroup.net

If you love Italian horror movies like we do, you should check out Asia Argento's music video for The Pop Group's first single "Mad Turth", from their forthcoming new album, Citizen Zombie. If you're not familiar, Asia recently starred on her father, Dario Argento's film Dracula 3D (which, yes, I own the Bluray)… but in terms of zombies, she was actually in George A. Romero's Land of the Dead (which, yes, I also own the DVD).

Asia commented on her video, "Collaborating with The Pop Group is a dream come true. The track blew my mind: all the set-ups and symbols in the video are inspired on a subconscious level by the music and the lyrics. I imagined a world ruled by the colourful souls of eternal children, expressing their crazy love through art, a spiritual warfare against a world populated by the living dead."

The Pop Group is heading out on tour in March, making their way to SXSW 2015:

03/01/15 Tokyo JP – Liquid Rooms

03/05/15 Adelaide AUS – Adelaide Festival

03/06/15 Sydney AUS – The Factory Theatre

03/07/15 Melbourne AUS – The Corner Hotel
