Post-Punk band Corners are touring in support of Maxed Out On Distractions and will be in Minneapolis, this February 22nd, which is my brother’s birthday. My brother’s favorite local band Frankie Teardrop is also listed on the bill… so the chances of him being at this show is high.

Like most indie bands, Corners are out touring around, or rather to, SXSW 2015. They’re scheduled to play six shows at SXSW alone.

Finnish-American violinist Sara Pajunen (formerly of Kaivama) and Finnish accordionist Teija Niku (The Polka Chicks) are Aallotar.
They are touring in support of Aallotar’s debut record In Transit, recorded and released in Finland in early 2014.

We’ve covered many Finnish bands in the past, and what I can tell you is that Minnesota has a very strong, close-knit Scandinavian community.

Also on the bill is Abyss, the new new solo project by singer and songwriter Aby Wolf.

We’ve been paying close attention to the revamped Northrop Auditorium since its grand re-opening, back in March 2014.

If you’re into world music (particularly East Africa/Nile Basin music), The Nile Project collective is stopping in at Northrop in Minneapolis on Tuesday, February 24th. The show have had very positive feedback from New York Times, NPR, and BBC.
