Jimi just attended the Burgerama IV two-night music festival at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California, last weekend (March 28-29th, 2015).

Burger Records is an established record company known for releasing cassette tapes… and they've been putting on this 'Rama music festival for the last four years. Each year it gets bigger and badder, I had to go before it implodes on itself.

Enjoying a Burger

I have been to a lot of music festivals in my lifetime, so far this has been the most fun, authentic, feel-good music festivals I have gone to. Plus it is super cheap compared to other festivals (I'm looking at you Coachella). There is an air of chutzpah and moxie that is infectious from the Burger Clan. Burger Records and their D.I.Y. aesthetic harkens back to the good old days of the 90's and nostalgic as cassette tapes may be, there is one thing that never goes out of style and that is good tunes.

So going into a festival, you're going have to pick bands you like and pit them off against each other. As a music lover you will always be in an inner turmoil of which band you need to fight to see, and which ones you will pass on. So often is the case of, should you go see the main well-established band playing the main stage or some smaller up and coming band at the tiny stage. You will never make a bad choice with Burger though, because like any good record company they are curating the musical landscape. So if you're a Burger Fan, chances are you'll like whatever you see.

So here are some personal highlights from the 3 day Burger Fest.

Highlights from the Pre-Party (27 March 2015):

I finally got to meet Sean from Burger and I gave him a vintage Hulk Hogan hat.

Also amazing that the Pre-Party included some of my favorite bands was just icing on this awesome cake.

Pookie & The Poodlez, Cumstain, and Guantanamo Baywatch all bringing their A-games here.
Guantanamo Baywatch plays surf tunes without a whammy bar… amazing.

Highlights from Day 1 (28 March 2015):

Weezer's singer Rivers Cuomo brought out his dad, Frank Cuomo, and they play "Back to the Shack". One of the most touching things I have witness in my many years of watching Weezer shows.

White Fang (Gnar Tapes) also kills it for me, because those dudes are just out there having fun.

Highlights from Day 2 (29 March 2015):

Black Lips and King Khan

Bone Thugs in Harmony played a tribute to Eazy E. (a tear from my eye as I pour out a forty).

Black Lips and The King Khan & BBQ Show form together and play an Almighty Defenders song.

Ty Segall encore erupts the largest mosh pit of the 3 days by playing a Black Sabbath cover.

Everyone I had talked to from fans to band member to merch sellers are genuinely nice and in good spirits. I never experience this much of a camaraderie in such a long time. It is, as if everyone in So-Cal is so down with Burger. Cassette tapes are made of a magnetic material that records the analog music. That magnetic material also binds us fans together. Long Live Burger!!!
