Aoife O’Donovan (known for being the lead singer of Crooked Still) continues her headlining North American tour in support of her second solo album In the Magic Hour. The record was written in the wake of her grandfather’s death, making it a personal album for O’Donovan. Guests on the album included Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Gabriel Kahane among others.

We previously caught O’Donovan with Glen Hansard in November 2015 and wrote, “After her Joni Mitchell cover song “You Turn Me On, I’m A Radio” (to be released as a B-Side on this Black Friday Record Store Day 7″ single), she is joined on stage with Thomas Brosseau, who provided piano for the rest of her 30-min set.”

Skating Polly

The band’s latest effort, The Big Fit, is their most fully realized collection of head-bopping, not quite sugar-sweet pop music infused with visceral, distortion-drenched punk sounds. It’s raw, infectious and inciting. It’s real.
