Here are some concerts taking place in the Minneapolis/St Paul area from January 19 to January 26, 2017.

Oddly enough, it would seems trio is the theme of this week’s shows, because Bear’s Den used to be a trio (Andrew, Kevin and Joey), but Joey left the band in early 2016.

The Lumineers

The Lumineers only have one record, a self titled LP, released back on April 3rd 2012, so they basically played almost the entire album. The band threw in a Bob Dylan cover, a Taking Heads cover .…
Andrew Bird

We’ve written about Andrew Bird, a few times.
Anyway, critics are raving about Andrew Bird’s latest release, Break It Yourself. NPR called it “something beautiful” …
Margaret Glaspy

One of the few artists we haven’t written about is Margaret Glaspy, touring in support of her debut album Emotions and Math (ATO Records). Be sure to show up early to check out Glaspy’s set.

THE LUMINEERS

at Target Center

Thursday, 01/19/17, 6pm ($29.50 – $59.50)

targetcenter.com

It still amazes me that The Lumineers went from playing the tiny 7th Street Entry to stadium-sized venues like Target Center within a year (from 2012 to 2013). The last time the band was in town, the original venue The Myth was quickly upgraded to the Roy Wilkins Auditorium due to popular demand.

The Denver-based band is back in town, to promote their second album Cleopatra (Dualtone). The record received overwhelming positive reviews and hit #1 in the UK Albums Chart and the Billboard 200 upon its release.
Their self-titled debut album already became certified Platinum in the US and Ireland, with Gold certifications in the UK, Australia and Canada.

Come out to the Target Center this Thursday to check out why this is one of the biggest folk/rock/Americana band in the world right now.

Andrew Bird and Margaret Glaspy to open.

Note: In late May and June, The Lumineers will be opening up for U2 on their special 30th Anniversary of The Joshua Tree tour.
