SHOUT OUT LOUDS

+ Surf Rock Is Dead

Fine Line Music Cafe

Thu 11/09/2017 (7pm/$18)

finelinemusic.com

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Sweden’s Shout Out Louds at the Fine Line Music Café in October 2007, but their last appearance at the Varsity Theater in May 2013 was probably their best: “As for performance, I felt with the years of touring experience, that this is Shout Out Louds at their best. They kept tuning/guitar changing down to a minimum, they have their own set of lighting and massive backdrop, and all the band members all had their little moments on stage. Near the end of their set, Olenius jumped into the crowd and spent a few minutes standing on the drum kit, while the rest of the band members do their rock-thing. They certainly didn’t do any of those things the last time I saw them, and I love the new changes.”

This upcoming 2017 tour is Shout Out Louds’ return to North America about four years. Their new record Ease My Mind is available now on Merge Records.

Not listed on the venue’s website, but Surf Rock Is Dead will open. The Melbourne/Chicago band previously toured with The Jezabels in November 2016.

With the recent sexual harassment put forth by former singer Alice Glass on her website, the entire Crystal Castles tour is cancelled.

    Glass wrote:

“I met “Ethan Kath” (Claudio Palmieri) when I was in the 10th grade. The first time he took advantage of me was when I was around 15. He was 10 years older than me. I came to in the back of his car extremely intoxicated (from drinks he had given me that night).”

    Kath responded:

“I can’t support extortion, false claims and accusations put forth after the band attained new success without her.”

Whatever the truth is… it’s hard to think that Crystal Castles will survive after this.

    He offers this apology:

I wanted to write a quick note to sincerely apologize to you for this unexpected update; many of the shows on our upcoming US & Canada tour needed to be cancelled.

We were able to keep the New-York, San-Fransisco, Santa Ana, and Los-Angeles shows as planned.

Both I and the J.Views live band were so eager to finally connect with you in person and play a show that we’ve been working on for months, but due to unforeseen circumstances we simply couldn’t make it work this time.

We’ll be looking into scheduling a new event on the next US tour. In the meantime; I wanted to offer you free downloads of Hi-Res versions of J.Views music, as well as a one-on-one Skype session, just to say a quick hi
