THE RURAL ALBERTA ADVANTAGE
+ Yukon Blonde
First Avenue
Sun 12/03/2017 (7pm/$22)

first-avenue.com

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Canadian band
The Rural Alberta Advantage
– it was a sold out show at the 7th Street Entry in September 2009. It was so crowded that I couldn’t actually get a decent photo and instead did a drawing of the band.

The group is back on tour in support of their new album The Wild.

They are bringing along Vancouver group Yukon Blonde. Their album Tiger Talk was nominated for the 2012’s Juno Award, which spawned their hit song ‘Stairway’. The new 10” vinyl for ‘Crazy’/‘Emotional Blackmail’ is out now on Dine Alone Records.

We caught the band in 2015 and wrote, “Yukon Blonde, based in Vancouver, had played the Twin Cities and this club in particular before, though in 2011 as the headliner. At that time they were touring in support of their first self-titled album and their subsequent EP Fire/Water, and their sound could only be described as bright, almost unbearably catchy indie pop. Their music was characterized by great hooks and beautiful harmonies.”

Tour dates:

Nov 25 Kelowna, BC @ Kelowna Community Theatre *

Nov 27 Red Deer, AB @ Red Deer Memorial Centre *

Nov 29 Edmonton, AB @ Union Hall *

Nov 30 Edmonton, AB @ Union Hall *

Dec 1 Saskatoon, SK @ O’Brians *

Dec 2 Winnipeg, MB @ Pyramid *

Dec 3 Minneapolis, MN @ First Ave *

Dec 6 Toronto, ON @ Danforth Music Hall *

Dec 7 Toronto, ON @ Danforth Music Hall *
