From the upcoming Turf Club show poster, it would seem that she’s touring on the 25th anniversary of Exile in Guyville, which came out in 1993. So expect a lot of favorite songs from what Rolling Stone called one of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. With the help of Matador Records, Phair is re-releasing the debut album, but with remastered recordings from her original
“Girly Sound” demo tapes.
Show up early for this sold-out show to get a good spot and to see Soccer Mommy, aka Nashville native Sophie Allison. She’s touring on her debut album Clean. We caught her pre-album release in Nov 2017 and wrote, “Starting with ‘Try’, the band played quiet folky songs from their various EPs (some were collected in Collections via Fat Possum Records). There was a new (pending title) song, which Allison said will be released on a forthcoming album. It was so new that the rest of the band took a break while Allison played solo (we’re assuming she was the only person who knew the chords).”
