Detroit’s party band Wilson headlined the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis on October 19th.

Opening the show was Minneapolis’ BadNraD (aka Jake BadNraD), assumingly named after Konami’s Skate or Die: Bad ‘N Rad. Jake is a one-man-band, DJ, producer, and keytarist, playing some rad songs like penultimate song “Atomic Teenage Trash” from his Deep End album.

Next up was The Missing Letters, originally not on the bill, so it was a surprise to see them on stage. The last time we wrote about them, it was in Aug 2015 when they opened up for drummer/guitarist duo Iamdynamite.

Most of the The Missing Letters’ set were taken from their Lucille EP, including the title track and their closing song “Tonight”.

They mentioned that their next show was at the 7th Street Entry on November 3rd. We looked it up, they are opening for Saints Of Valory.

Next was Los Angeles’ Hyro The Hero. Hyro and his live band (introduced as Dave, Troy, Randy?) sounded a little metal, punk, and rap. It was highly energetic, and, honestly, felt out of place with the mostly rock lineup. It’s cool and fun, and I can see Hyro doing really well touring with the Wu-Tang Clan (which he has done in the past) or with a youth/metal show.

After the first song “Locked, Loaded, Ready”, the shirt came off. With the intense jumping and dancing, he probably didn’t need to wear a shirt to begin with!

They ended their set with “Live Your F**kin Life”, taken from their recently released sophomore album Flagged Channel (RED Music / SONY).

Rock band Wilson closed out the show, playing some tracks from Tasty Nasty, an album three years in the making. The large group features singer Chad Nicefield, lead guitarist Jason Spencer, rhythm guitarist Kyle Landry, bassist James Lascu, drummer Matt Puhy, and two volcano smoke machines.

You can tell that the band is all about having a good time, promoting that 4:20-vibe and partying, and based on the way they carry with lighting/smoke (no pun intended) setup, they know how play a show.

Their fans also had a good time, early in the set, had brought the band penis drinks. No, not a cocktail, it’s a drink in a plastic penis-shaped container. I guess you just have to use your imagination.

Singer Nicefield, looking confused, but grateful, accepted the drink for a later time.
