Killer Mike
and the Midnight Revival

with Trackstar the DJ
at First Avenue

first-avenue.com

Killer Mike is touring in support of his first solo album in 11 years. The album is simply titled Michael and comes out on Loma Vista Recordings / Concord Records.

We previously saw Killer Mike in his popular rap duo Run the Jewels in Mar 2018 and wrote, “The mood then completely turned harder and darker as hip-hop duo Run the Jewels took the stage for their forty-five minute set, beginning with the not-so-humble intro music of ‘We are the Champions’. “Shouts out to Kirby Puckett- we’re gonna burn this… place to the ground!” Killer Mike decreed, he and rapper/producer El-P stalked the stage as DJ Trackstar worked the ones and twos, beginning with their eponymously-named theme song.”

Gogol Bordello
with Puzzled Panther
at First Avenue

first-avenue.com

“Start wearing purple!”

If you’ve never seen Gogol Bordello live, do yourself a favor and see them. They are honestly, one of the best live acts we’ve ever seen.

We caught them in Oct 2017 and wrote, “After 18 years as a touring band, it’s obvious that they’ve outgrown First Avenue’s mainroom, as every time they play at the venue, it sells out. If you really want to see the band, buy your ticket early, you’ll thank yourself later. The band is so great live, and, especially with the popular songs like ‘Start Wearing Purple’ and ‘Trans-Continental Hustle’, will have the audience often going crazy for songs (so watching the audience is also half the fun).”

Update: New York duo, Puzzled Panther to open.

Des Rocs
with Bastardane
at Turf Club

first-avenue.com

NYC native Des Rocs is touring in support of his sophomore album Dream Machine, set for release on August 25 via Sumerian Records.

About Dream Machine, Rocco adds: “I grew up worshiping the enormous scale of rock n roll. I was obsessed with the awesome spectrum of people it could unite. Soon the guitar became my ultimate escape. When I played I could pour years of bottled-up feelings through my fingers and express myself in a way I never thought possible. I’d imagine myself on the stages of my heroes, and soon became singularly-focused on how I could one day stand on the shoulders of giants. I wanted to make an album that captured the same magic that changed my life. But it was important to push the genre. To filter larger-than-life emotions through the lens of my own experiences. Dream Machine is an album that embodies the dreams of that little kid standing in front of the TV watching Queen at Wembley. Dream Machine is a vessel.”

Update: Georgia’s Bastardane to open.
