British rock band Slowdive are touring in support of their new album everything is alive.

One of my favorite shows ever, was seeing Slowdive on Halloween at the Fine Line on 31 Oct 2014. Since they don’t celebrate Halloween in the UK, the band had a blast dressing up in costume, and making their show an unforgeable experience: “Anyway, Halloween shows are always fun, because half the fun of watching the band is also watching the audience for some great costumes. Usually bands will come on stage in costumes, but for Reading-based Slowdive, they went all out! Not only was everyone, including the audio techs and sound engineers, dressed up, but they went the extra mile and dressed their stage with various Halloween fun like cobwebs, handmade pirate flags, skulls, pumpkins, candies! This tells me the band are really committed to show us a good time!”

“Intergalactic duo” Drab Majesty to open.

Matt and Kim
with Pkew Pkew Pkew
at First Avenue

first-avenue.com

After a long pandemic break, Matt and Kim is returning to touring with the banner of “Matt and Kim Present: The Matt and Kim Tour Featuring Matt and Kim!” Regarding the title and tour, Matt says, “THIS TOUR IS GONNA BE SO RIDICULOUS! And we mean that in the best way possible! Been putting together every M&K song you’d want to hear and mixing in LOTS of surprises.”

Matt & Kim are always fun live, I’ll never forget that time I got this amazing photo of the duo at the Go Fest 2015: “I had a lot of fun, and I think the audience did too. Some new gimmick they did tried for this show was getting everyone to blow up balloons and then tossing them up in the air. They also brought out a parachute and had people holding it up (wasn’t quite sure this one worked as well as they intended).”

Pkew Pkew Pkew to open.

Generationals
with mmeadows
at Turf Club

first-avenue.com

New Orleans’s Generationals are touring in support of their new album Heza (Polyvinyl Records).

We previously saw the band in 06 May 2013 and said, “As for Generationals, I couldn’t stay for their show because of prior commitments, although a quote I got from a fan tells me that they “were fantastic!” Generationals is currently on tour for their Polyvinyl album Heza, which was released earlier last month (April 2nd). ”

mmeadows to open. We previously saw them in 12 Jun 2023 and said, “Opening the show was New York-based prog-pop duo Mmeadows (Kristin Slipp and Cole Kamen-Green), on their first appearance in Minneapolis. It should be noted that singer Slipp is a member of Dirty Projectors, so if you like that band, you’ll find a lot to love with Mmeadows’ synth and elastic vocals. Kamen-Green (son of drummer drummer Joey Baron), meanwhile, has worked with Beyonce, Diana Ross, and other massive stars… but he remains hidden in the background.”
