Blake Rose

Australia-born and Los Angeles-based Blake Rose will be headlining the 7th Street Entry on April 15, 2024. His hits, “Gone” and “Lost” have attracted over 165 million streams, dubbing him “artist to watch” in 2000.

Blake’s third EP, Love/Attachment Vol 1 came out in March 2024 via AWAL Recordings.

He was previously in Minneapolis on Oct 17, 2021, opening for Vermont singer and songwriter Noah Kahan.

Folk singer-songwriter Max McNown will open. His debut album Wandering came out April 12 on Fugitive Recordings. He previously opened for Americana folk-rock band Briscoe last month (March).

Meatbodies

Meatbodies is returning to the area, as part of the promotional tour for Flora Ocean Tiger Bloom. He’s headlining the 7th Street Entry on April 19, 2024.

We previously saw the band in Sep 2019 and wrote, “California’s Meatbodies (aka “Chad and the Meatbodies”) opened the show. If you didn’t know, the band consists of Chad Ubovich (who also plays bass in Fuzz and touring member of Mikal Cronin), Kevin Boog and Patrick Nolan. My favorite of their set was penultimate song “Alice”, which went on jamming well after it’s supposed to end. ”

Population II to open. The trio features singer/drummer Pierre-Luc Gratton, guitarist/keyboardist Tristan Lacombe, and bassist Sébastien Provençal, and is known for both improvised madness and sophisticated composition. Their new EP Serpent Échelle will be out April 19th, 2024.

Country/folk singer Caroline Rose is headlining First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on April 20, 2024. The singer’s latest The Art of Forgetting (New West Records) was nominated for Best Recording Package.

We caught Rose in May 2016 and wrote, “Opening up the show was Caroline Rose in “modern-day hobo” wear, complete with flip-flops. We previously seen the vagabond with Rateliff in 2014 and we wrote that they were “Americana” but noted that they seemed to go beyond that. Rose is joined on stage by Pat Melvin on bass, Brett Lanier on pedal steel, and Dan Davine on drums. Notably gone is the upright bass! ”

Ian Sweet to open. We saw her a few times, the last being in Aug 2022: “Despite what Ian Sweet told us on stage, this was Sweet’s fourth time in Minneapolis (she mentioned she’s been three times on stage). She could be right, she may have cancelled an appearance… but according to our W♥M archive, this was her fourth time here: The first, in May 31, 2017 with Girlpool and Snail Mail at 7th Street Entry. The second with Ted Leo And The Pharmacists in November 11, 2017. The third as headliner at the 7th Street Entry October 29, 2018.”
