Award-winning singer-songwriter Tenille Townes will be headlining the Turf Club, in St Paul, on May 17, 2024.

Her latest song, “Thing That Brought Me Here,” Townes mentioned, “I wrote this song with Ben Rector about my truck that’s become a symbol of the dream for me and a piece of home. It’s the only thing I’ve driven since I started driving and it drove me 47 hours to move to Nashville from Alberta ten years ago. I want the story of ‘The Thing That Brought Me Here’ to live on through a song and I want it to be a reminder to anyone listening that our ambitions are worth holding on to and fighting for. If you would have told the high school kid driving this truck that she’d be living in Nashville writing and recording songs and touring the world, she’d be losing her mind. I never want to let go of that feeling.”

    Monique Smaz to open.

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad is currently on his “Silhouettes Tour,” a headlining run that kicks off its North American leg on April 25 in Atlanta, GA and wraps up at the iconic Beacon Theatre in New York City on June 1 before dates in the UK and Europe this fall (tour itinerary below).

Kuhad will stop by the Cedar Cultural Center on May 17, 2024.

    Prateek Kuhad (16 Jun 2022)

We saw Prateek Kuhad in Jun 2022 and wrote, “Let me start by saying that I’ve never seen so many Hindi at a concert before. That’s thanks to Indian singer/songwriter Prateek Kuhad and his star power, thanks to former US president Barack Obama putting Kuhad’s song “Cold/Mess” on his “Favorite Music of 2019.” I think it’s so cool to see people that don’t normally attend shows on the dancefloor… and I hope they continue to support live music.”

UK’s shoegazing band Ride will be touring in support of their new studio album, Interplay (Wichita Recordings / PIAS).

    Ride (09 Feb 2023)

We last saw Ride as part of the excellent double-billing with The Charlatans in Feb 2023 and wrote, “Playing first was Oxford’s Ride, featuring vocalists and guitarists Andy Bell and Mark Gardener, drummer Laurence “Loz” Colbert and bassist Steve Queralt. The band is one of the early pioneers of shoegazing music, thanks to their debut album Nowhere, which came out in 1990. The term shoegazing is used to described the layers of guitar distortions and effects. Its origin is in reference to the many guitar foot pedals (so the guitarist would be staring at their feet to operate the effects correctly).”

    Knifeplay to open.
