Social Distortion
at Palace Theatre
first-avenue.com

Fullerton’s punk legends, Social Distortion, is headlining the Palace Theatre, this May 21, 2024. I’ve previously mentioned that when I was living in Fresno, California, we saw the band in 1992, at the Cadillac Club. Barely have any memory of the show, but singer Mike Ness changed the lyrics to “Ball and Chain” to say “Fresno County Jail”, which had the audience burst out cheering.

We last saw Social D in Aug 2015 and wrote, “Usually, when there’s an older crowd, the old people stand in the back of the venue and let the younger generation have their fun in the pit. Not last night. Last night was the first time I have ever seen old people moshing… and they were moshing hard.”

Knocked Loose
with Show me the Body, Loathe, and Speed
at Fillmore

livenation.com

Kentucky’s metalcore band Knocked Loose is selling out concerts across the country. The band is currently signed to Pure Noise Records and recently released their new album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To.

Knocked Loose (03 May 2024)

We just saw the band on 03 May 2024 and wrote, “Singer Brian Garris entered, and the entire place exploded like a bomb, beginning their seventy-five-minute set with the lead single from the upcoming record, “Blinding Faith”. Bodies and heavy guitar riffs were flying in the air with following song, 2019’s “Mistakes Like Fractures” with the band providing the ideal soundtrack for venting and releasing any pent-up anger or emotions.”

Show me the Body, Loathe, and Speed to open.

Céu
with Paul Beaubrun
at Dakota Jazz Club

dakotacooks.com

Update: this show has been cancelled or postponed

Brazilian pop singer Céu is returning to the Dakota Jazz Club on May 22, 2024.

Her new album Novela is out April 26, via Urban Jungle/ONErpm.

We last saw Ceu in June 2012 and wrote, “I believe this is Céu’s third time in Minneapolis, and her latest appearance, she’s more confident than ever as evident by her improved English and more upbeat/funk sound. As you can see from the setlist, all of the songs on Caravana Sereia Bloom were played live. This included a block of songs in the first half of her set: “Fffree”, “Falta De Ar”, “Asfalto E Sal”, “Amor De Antigos”, “Contravento”, “Streets Bloom”, and “Retrovisor”. You did catch a break with “Cangote” from her previous Vagarosa, but then it’s back to Caravana Sereia Bloom for the next two songs.”

Paul Beaubrun to open.

LCD Soundsystem
at Armory

first-avenue.com

The most popular band of the last twenty years, LCD Soundsystem is headlining the Armory, in Minneapolis, on May 22, 2024.

Their breakout single, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, was so popular, it inspired Tying Tiffany to do “LCD Soundsystem is Playing at My House” song. You can hear her song at weheartmusic.

After getting their top-ten album This Is Happening in 2011, the band broke up! I guess it’s always better to leave when you’re on top.

The band re-united in 2017, but remained relatively quiet, until this year.
