Oxford’s Swervedriver is headlining the Turf Club, in St Paul, on October 4, 2025.

Swervedriver at the Turf Club (Mar 12, 2015)

We saw the band in March 2015 and mentioned: “Swervedriver is also heading down to SXSW, this year (they’ve already announced a free show). Expect to see the band continue their tour to the East Coast after SXSW. As you can see from their autographed setlist, the band played almost all of their new album I Wasn’t Born to Lose You, with the exception of “English Subtitles” and “Red Queen Arms Race”. The other half of their set was older material, including the classic 1993 album Mezcal Head (the album with the bull on the cover), including these two songs that ended their set, “Girl On A Motorbike” and “Duel”.”

Porcupine at 7th St Entry (Feb 26, 2023)
Porcupine to open. We saw the band a few times, the last being with Loki’s Folly in Feb 2023: “We previously caught Porcupine opening for The Posies in June 2018 and The Flesh Eaters in March 2019, so they are playing in good company…. Evolving forward from a late ‘80s/‘90s indie-rock sound of Swervedriver meets QOTSA, the trio is out in support of latest six-song record, What You’ve Heard Isn’t Real (on Dead Broke Rekerds/DC-Jam) and recent lead single, ‘Lifetime’. The teenage alienation of their version of Hüsker Dü’s ‘Standing by the Sea’ from the new record was originally penned by Norton’s ex-band mate, the late Grant Hart, and is a fitting tribute to his musical legacy. Even songs like 2011’s ‘Rooftops’ resonate further, with Norton providing an extra bump from his restless stage presence and formidable bass skills.”

Tour Dates:

  • SEP 29 Great American Music Hall San Francisco, CA
  • OCT 1 Mississippi Studios Portland, OR
  • OCT 2 Neumos Seattle, WA
  • OCT 4 Turf Club St Paul, MN
  • OCT 5 Thalia Hall Chicago, IL

Destroyer at Fine Line (Oct 4, 2025)

Destroyer

at Fine Line

Destroyer is headlining the Fine Line, in Minneapolis, on October 4, 2025, in support of their 14th album Dan’s Boogie (Merge Records). This upcoming tour will feature a full seven-piece band, for a complete Destroyer experience.

Destroyer at Fine Line (January 18, 2018)

We saw Destroyer in Jan 2018 and mentioned: “Destroyer came on stage slightly later than advertised. The Vancouver band is fronted by singer-songwriter Dan Bejar, and features Nicholas Bragg on guitar, Tim Loewen on bass, Ted Bois on keys, Scott Morgan on drums, and secret weapon Fisher Rose on trumpet. The thing to note about Destroyer is that they sound very different from album to album. In Bejar’s words, “That’s kind of my goal: to start from scratch every time.””

Jennifer Castle at Dakota Jazz Club (Oct 30, 2014)
Jennifer Castle to open. We saw Castle over ten years ago, at the Dakota Jazz Club in October 2014 (but she’s previously toured with Destroyer last year): “Toronto’s Jennifer Castle decorated the stage with flowers that she found along the long road to Minneapolis. She joking offered to sell the flowers too, along with her entire discography for sale at the merch table. She started and ended her set with covers, starting with Bob Dylan’s “Walkin’ Down the Line” and ending with a traditional song “Sailor’s Blessing”, which she sang a cappella. Sandwiched between were mostly selections from her latest album Pink City, which came out last month on Idée Fixe Records.”

Garbage at First Avenue (Oct 4, 2025)

October 4, 2025 Saturday
Garbage
with Starcrawler
at First Avenue

American rock band Garbage (led by Scottish singer/actress Shirley Manson) will be headlining First Avenue on October 4, 2025, in support of their new album Let All That We Imagine Be the Light.

Garbage at Minnesota Yacht Club (July 20, 2025)
To be perfectly honest, we were looking forward to seeing the group at Minnesota Yacht Club Music Festival in July 2025, but was somewhat disappointed in the show. Possibly because Shirley Manson was dressed in a plastic dress and it was so hot, she admitted she was not in tip-top shape: “Manson shared how she suddenly was way too hot, being in the plastic outfit she had (“I don’t know what I was f’ing thinking”), but thankfully Garbage only had a little time left. The weather was also starting to cool down, so hopefully Manson was starting to feel a little less overheated. In any case, Garbage finished their set strong and left the stage to thankful fans.”

Maybe with this upcoming Rocktober date, it’ll be a different story, playing inside an air-conditioned room of First Avenue. We’ll see!

Starcrawler at Turf Club (Oct 16, 2019)

Starcrawler to open. I don’t think we’ll ever forget how amazing this band is when we saw them in Oct 2019: “
Visually and performance-wise, this is probably our favorite show of Rocktober. Everything from de Wilde strangling herself with the mic cords, to Cash’s guitar playing on the Turf Club’s bar (see photo!), to that faithful cover of the Ramones’ “Pet Semetary” song was done amazingly well.”

The Los Angeles previously toured with Boris, and now with Garbage. I hate to say it, but I feel like Starcrawler’s performance may actually outshine Garbage, just based on seeing the two bands played before.
