Project Hail Mary (2026)
Today is Star Wars Day (May the Fourth), and with that, let’s get some of the Star Wars news out of the way: Mandalorian and Grogu is getting a movie on May 22nd. This is the first Star Wars film since 2019’s Rise of the Skywalker. Then next year, in May 2027, we are also getting Star Wars: Starfighter – starring Ryan Gosling.
Gosling was also recently in a hit Sci-Fi film called Project Hail Mary. I had seen the film a few months ago (March 2026), and it’s really good. It sorts of reminded me of The Martian, in which there are some impossible things happening and, yet, somehow, our hero survives and find their way home.
In Project Hail Mary, the story is about a reluctant scientist on his way to this galaxy to find the answer and solution to Earth’s dying sun. Gosling is the only survivor on his ship and he meets another alien, “Rocky”, who is also the only survivor of his ship. The two are on the same mission (to save their planet). At first, there are many problems, like the two could not exist in the same atmosphere … and then there is the language barrier.
As the movie progresses, you find out Gosling’s backstory and how he ended up on the ship. You also find out some other things, which I can’t really talk about without spoiling the movie. It’s a good story, and you’ll never guess how the movie ends. I didn’t see it coming, but I loved it. I hope there is a sequel.
