Acclaimed vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Sir Chloe (Dana Foote) returns to the Twin Cities, playing the Fine Line, in Minneapolis, on March 18, 2024.

Sir Chloe’s new single, “Seventeen,” is available now via Atlantic Records.

Cyrille Aimée
at Dakota Jazz Club

dakotacooks.com

Costa Rica/New Orleans-based musician Cyrille Aimée is touring in support of à Fleur de Peau (Whirlwind Recordings). The tour will stop in at the Dakota Jazz Club, in Minneapolis, on March 19th.

She recently released her new single, “Here”, which was inspired when she killed her phone: “I wrote “Here” after I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet! It was totally dead and I decided not to get a new one. So for 9 months I lived without a phone and had to write down directions off of the computer before going somewhere, and just watch the world around me when I had to wait for someone. It was amazing all the things I never noticed before because of being on my phone. Especially noticing things inside of me, and getting acquainted with myself was such a learning experience! It was a very inspiring moment of pure presence and so this song came out of it.”

With all Dakota Jazz Club shows, it starts very early, so show starts at 7pm, but I recommend getting in early to get a good table and also enjoy your dinner at the excellent restaurant.

The Kooks
with The Vaccines and Daisy the Great
at the Fox Theater

thefoxoakland.com

Wow, what a lineup! This same tour is coming to Minneapolis, at the Fillmore on March 16, 2024.

We’ve seen all these bands and they are all amazing.

We last saw The Kooks in Minneapolis on 04 October 2014 and noted, “When The Kooks took the stage, it brought back memories of seeing them in Chicago in 2007. The band was new and fresh then, and although they’ve grown up a little, they’re still full of youthful energy and fun on stage.
It’s also worth noting that this is the first tour to feature new drummer Alexis Nunez, who previously drummed for London’s Golden Silvers.”

We saw The Vaccines in 10 Oct 2018 and said, “After a short break, the lights dimmed and a weird medley of “Phantom of the Opera” and ABBA’s “Dancing Queen”, The Vaccines have finally arrived to the clean stage of the Fine Line Music Café. Singer Justin Hayward-Young mentioned after a few songs, “Weird, not being at Triple Rock for sure.” As Hayward-Young mentioned, this was The Vaccines’ fourth time in Minneapolis, and “Minneapolis have been very good to us.””

The Vaccines are touring in support of their new album Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations, available on Thirty Tigers.

Finally, Daisy the Great (Kelley Nicole Dugan and Mina Walker), who we saw in 16 Apr 2023, with the snow: “Despite the snow, Daisy the Great drew in quite the crowd. Everyone on the dancefloor were already super dedicated fans, knowing all the songs and have kept up with the duo’s misadventures on their tour. The 7th Street Entry was only their four show on this 2023 tour … yet they seemed like seasoned professionals, even though they’re often goofing and joking around.”

The Little Rope tour will stop by the Palace Theatre, in St Paul, on March 23, 2024.

We’ve been following this Riot Grrrl band since the mid-90s, having enjoying bands such as Bikini Kill, Team Dresch, and Bratmobile. Her latest album The Land, the Water, the Sky is even dedicated to the place. KP grew up around music with her dad a powwow singer and her participating as a jingle dress dancer. She was also influenced by the Northwest sounds of Nirvana and Hole, teaching herself to play guitar and drums by watching bootleg VHS tapes of the bands. ”
