Kate Bollinger
with Sharp Pins
at 7th St Entry

first-avenue.com

Kate Bollinger is touring in support of her new album Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind (Ghostly International). The tour will stop by the 7th Street Entry on October 7, 2024.

We saw Bollinger in April 2023, and wrote, “She covered a French song called “J’aime Les Filles”, originally by Jacques Dutronc. Translated to English, it means “I like the girls…” and the lyrics continues that he likes the girl in Castel, he likes the girls in Régine, he likes all girls. The lyrics are simple and silly, but Bollinger treats the song so seriously.”

New Hope Club
with Haven Madison
at 7th St Entry

first-avenue.com

British pop trio New Hope Club (Reece Bibby, Blake Richardson, and George Smith) is headlining the 7th Street Entry on October 8, 2024. With their debut album hit the UK Top 5 and got over 2 billion streams for their hit song “Know Me Too Well” (featuring Mexican superstar Danna Paola).

The band’s been tapped to tour with The Vamps on several UK tour in 2016-2019, so we’re assuming their music and style may be similar to the Vamps.

Also, apparently Blake Richardson looks like a Beatles, as he plays a young Paul McCartney in Midas Man, a feature film about Brian Epstein.

Haven Madison to open the 7th Street Entry. Pop singer Katy Perry endorsed Haven as “the next big pop star”, and sang duet with Haven on the song “Still Need You.”

Tour dates:

  • 8-Oct Minneapolis, MN 7th St Entry
  • 18-Oct Los Angeles, CA Teragram Ballroom

Joan Osborne & Joshua Radin
at Hopkins Center

hopkinsartscenter.com

American singer-songwriter Joan Osborne, known for her breakout single “One of Us,” will be playing the Hopkins Center in Hopkins, Minnesota, on October 11, 2024.

We saw Joan Osborne in Sep 2023, and wrote, “Osborne’s latest album, Nobody Owns You (Womanly Hips Records) is a return to form for original songs… and they are very good, at least what I’ve heard live. “I Should’ve Danced More” is fantastic, it’s a song about some regrets she may have had. She should have danced more, she should have loved more, etc. The message is clear, do what you love while you can now. I think the song is a reflection of what happened to all of us in 2020 when the pandemic hit and we lost the ability to gather and celebrate music. In some ways, Osborne seemed so genuinely happy to be back on stage, playing live music again. She’s joined on stage by a pianist and guitarist (Jack Petruzzelli) … which she was very playful with back-and-forth guitar playing on “Trouble and Strife”.”

Joshua Radin is co-headlining.

We saw Radin in Dec 2017 and wrote, “With winter just on the horizon on a chilly December mid-week evening, singer-songwriter Joshua Radin stopped into the intimate W XYZ Bar at the Aloft Hotel in downtown Minneapolis for a one-off acoustic performance as part of the chain’s semi-regular live music series. Radin and band had recently returned from a European tour and his following has always been steady in the area, so fans packed the lobby of the hotel just across from the site of this season’s Super Bowl for a generous hour-long acoustic performance as part of this free admission concert series.”

Nada Surf
with Office Dog
at Fine Line

first-avenue.com

Nada Surf is touring in support of their new album Moon Mirror (New West Records). The tour will stop in at the Fine Line, in Minneapolis, on October 12, 2024.

We saw Nada Surf in May 2016, and wrote, “Nada Surf, on their second night of their comeback You Know Who You Are tour was determined to give us their best performance of their lives. They wanted to that in Chicago, the previous night, but due to the venue’s restrictive curfew, their set was cut short. Minneapolis’ Fine Line Music Café did not have any curfew, so the band played for about two hours – doing the obligated ‘new album’ music and saving all their ‘popular’ songs (including ‘Popular’) for the encore.”

first-avenue.com

North Carolina-based singer, songwriter, and musician MJ Lenderman & The Wind is touring in support of Manning Fireworks (ANTI- Records). The tour will stop in at First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on October 12, 2024.

We saw MJ Lenderman in Nov 2022, and wrote, “MJ Lenderman and his band opened the evening sounding at times like younger relatives to Son Volt, but a little grungier and even more laid back. He started off with a slow dirge of a song that kept building in “No Mercy” and then moved onto the upbeat, almost danceable “TV Dinners” about a man at home all by himself on a Friday night definitely not dancing while heating up his pre-made meal.”

Donovan Woods
with Katelyn Tarver
at 7th St Entry

first-avenue.com

Canadian folk singer Donovan Woods will headline the 7th St Entry, on Oct 13, 2024. We previously mentioned that he opened up for Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors in Apr 2024.

Katelyn Tarver to open.

We saw Katelyn Tarver in Sep 2023, and wrote, “Katelyn Tarver is on her first headlining “Compliments Only” tour. She had a lot of fun digging through her EP and old songs, and her forthcoming sophomore 2024 album, to put together her setlist. Even though it’s her first major tour, she seemed like an old pro at this. And even if things aren’t exactly going according to plan, Tarver is having fun. In the middle of her set, she decided to do a mini-solo set (meaning her drummer and guitarist would take a nice 20-min break backstage). Starting with her quiet piano-driven song “Sh** Happens”, followed by “Love Alone”, and a cover of Paramore’s “The Only Exception”, and ending with “Love Me Again”. ”
