Odie Leigh at Fine Line

Nashville’s Blood Root, the stagename for Taylor Wafford. Wafford previously fronted The Blue Wild, a North Carolina-based folk band, but probably broke up when she relocated to Nashville.
So far, a few singles (“Teeth”, “Conversations”) are under the Blood Root name… but she promised that she’s indeed working on putting together her album. She played a few new unreleased songs near the end of her brief say, stating “they’re not out yet – don’t leak them!”
Taylor with her guitars, along with drummer Grace Goodman and bassist Kaitlyn Gerdau, would be Odie Leigh’s full backing band when she arrived on stage to play tracks from her debut album Carrier Pigeon. The album topped “best albums” from All Things Considered, and Paste said it was “The Best of What’s Next.”

Odie Leigh at 7th St Entry (07 May 2023)
|
Leigh mentioned that she was in Minneapolis about a year ago, playing the tiny 7th Street Entry. “Were any of you guys there?” she asked. There were at least two, because the band that opened the show, Pine & Fire, they were in attendance. Leigh smiled and wanted to see everyone later.
Some well-known songs, such as her viral hit song “Crop Circles”, singles “My Name On A T-Shirt” and “Conversation Starter”, were often turned into a singalong with the audience, who were very vocal and eager to get Odie Leigh’s attention.
Odie Leigh’s debut album Carrier Pigeon is out now on Mom + Pop.
