Minneapolis This Week (February 1, 2026)
Here is what is going on this week in Minneapolis/St Paul, ending on February 1, 2026: • shame at Turf Club (Jan 27, 2026) • SPRINTS at 7th St Entry (Jan 28, 2026) • The Japhies at 7th St Entry (Jan 29, 2026)
UK’s shame is back on tour in support of their new album Cutthroat (Dead Oceans).
We first saw Shame in Aug 2022 and wrote, “Singer Charlie Steen said, “It’s been so long since we’ve been to America, that we’ve already worked on our third album.” Green mentioned that they were going to play some of those future tracks on our set, which were well received. Although their debut album Songs of Praise were, er, praised by critics, the album doesn’t really do the band justice. Seeing them in person, you will full appreciate the band. They are some of the most exciting band we’ve seen, full of youth and energy. Everything from their strange humor in their songs to Steen’s funky hand-pumping dancing to guitarist Josh Finerty running and jumping four feet in the air… this is a really fun band.”

The Japhies are excited to announce their Reunion Show at the 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, on January 29, 2026.
We were originally supposed to see the Japhies at the Triple Rock Social Club in August 2013, but the singer was hospitalized, so we didn’t actually see the band until they opened up for Cherie Currie on August 11, 2013. We described the Japhies as, “Seems like the lead singer made a miraculous recovery, as the band played tracks from their 22/3 album, including “Darker Times”, “Thrutch” and “Vacation Boogie”. They were loud and the drummer was encouraged to go nuts, and everyone around me was impressed with the band. I’m glad I finally got to see them, having missed them last Friday and missing them with Pink Mink last year.”
That was 13 years ago when I said everyone was impressed with the band. Do they still have it 13 years later? Find out at their Reunion show.
The Modern Era, Whiskey Rock ‘n’ Roll Club MPLS and DJ Mary Lucia to open.
If your band is coming to the Minneapolis/St Paul area, please email details to vu@weheartmusic.com with a good lead time. Thank you.
