Lucibela at Dakota Jazz Club (Oct 20, 2026)
October 20, 2026 Tuesday Lucibela at Dakota Jazz Club first-avenue.com
Cabo Verdean vocal star Lucibela returns to Minnesota, playing the Dakota Jazz Club, in Minneapolis, on October 20, 2026.
Lucibela at the Cedar Cultural Center (09/16/2022)
We saw Lucibela in September 2022 and wrote, “Luciebela is from Cape Verde, a collection of small rocky islands off the northwestern coast of Africa. Her hometown of Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente, has a rich history of sailors from Brazil, Cuba, England and Portugal, making ports of call and bringing their own musical traditions. Listening to Lucibela sway through her set, one is transported to her small island, a place where she started at an early age working in the hotels of the resort town of Santa Maria, with songs from the jazz, bossa nova and rock genre. ”

Kick off Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival at the Fine Line with a bold, music-filled Opening Night celebrating the start of thirteen days of Jewish cinema, conversation, and community.
Following its Tribeca premiere, NOGA brings the fearless energy of Israeli alt-pop artist Noga Erez to the big screen. Praised by Billie Eilish and a collaborator with artists including Missy Elliott, Erez is preparing to release a major-label album when everything shifts. As war erupts at home and tensions surface with longtime creative partner Ori Rousso, she finds herself at a personal, artistic, and political crossroads.
Unfiltered, intimate, and charged with music, NOGA follows an artist navigating fame, love, protest, creative partnership, and the responsibility of speaking from a global stage in an increasingly fractured world.
Following the screening, join us for an Opening Night toast as we raise a glass to the film, the festival, and thirteen days of extraordinary cinema ahead.
The Wrecks at Varsity Theater (October 22, 2026)
October 22, 2026 Thursday The Wrecks with Worry Club and Kid Sistr at Varsity Theater livenation.com
The Wrecks is currently on their “Finally Outside” Tour, hitting Varsity Theater, in Minneapolis, on October 22, 2026.
We last saw The Wrecks a decade ago, in October 2016 and mentioned, “The all-ages show started earlier than the usual show time, but that did not stop the fans from showing up early and on time for the first opener, The Wrecks (Nick Anderson, Aaron Kelley, Nick Schmidt, Harrison Nussbaum, and Billy Nally). The 11-month band was really pleased at the early terrific turnout. They didn’t think anyone in the audience had heard of them (although we did write about them in May 2016), and jokingly announced “Here’s 8 songs you’ve never heard of!” Nick Anderson announced that ‘Favorite Liar’ (which closed out their 30-min set) was the first song they’ve ever written… and that they were happy to be back in Minneapolis. Apparently, their bassist, Aaron Kelley, had families in the Twin Cities.”
Worry Club and Kid Sistr to open. Kid Sistr was last seen in Minneapolis, in June 2023.
Worry Club at Turf Club (June 14, 2025)
We saw Worry Club in June 2025 and wrote, “Chicago-based indie punk pop band Worry Club was up next. Chase Walsh, the creative center of the band, has mostly focused on releasing singles, and several EPs, including 2023’s All Frogs Go to Heaven. That punk label was obvious from the jump, with the opener Nothin being an absolute beast. The quartet (guitar/vocals, guitar, bass/backup vocals, and drums) came out hot and it looked like they were determined to keep the energy bar at maximum (evidenced by the lead singer losing his hat in the second song and never looking back). Dedbody had a great guitar riff underneath and it felt like the vocals were driving things forward. The lead singer was all over the stage any time he wasn’t singing at the microphone, and was the ringleader to the high energy antics. A bit of banter for a certain President’s birthday was pretty hysterical. Those fantastic guitar licks kept things moving at an almost unbearable pace, but the band was able to maintain it (this was not a case of youth being wasted on the youth). In My Ear was more upbeat (not sure how that was possible), with a brighter tone and an audience-taught choral section to end the number. An as yet unreleased song followed and was perhaps their slowest of the evening. It helped Worry Club that they had the vocals turned all the way up and were clear as a bell. Another new song, Anything Else, started with a solo guitar before the rest of the band rejoined and included a change of guitar mid-song (not sure I’ve seen that before). Finishing with Same Name, Worry Club had made a big impact on the crowd and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them playing bigger venues or headlining their own tour in the near future.”
Gilla Band at Turf Club (Oct 24, 2026)
October 24, 2026 Saturday Gilla Band with PISS at Turf Club first-avenue.com
Pioneering Dublin noise quartet Gilla Band (formerly Girl Band) is touring in support of Pugnello (out now on Rough Trade Records). The band was last in town in 2023, so they don’t always make it over to the USA.
PISS to open.
