The Hails
The Hails
Florida’s The Hails’ new album is called Duckpond (ONErpm), and their new single is “Ducks on the Pond.”
Lead singer Robbie Kingsely explains:
‘All my people want submission, come on people be submissive’ is a sarcastic attack on the modern psyche of people, particularly young men, who willingly dive into the pitfalls of online gambling. As we observe our generation and the ones coming up, it’s glaringly obvious that no one actually cares if they’re developing bad habits or wasting their time and money – we just want that quick hit to give us life and help the days move on.
We saw The Hails in May 2023 and wrote: “Opening the show was Florida’s five-piece The Hails (Robbie Kingsley, Franco Solari, Dylan McCue, Andre Escobar and Zach Levy), who joins the tour, starting in Minneapolis and ending in Brooklyn, New York, on May 24… before playing a home state gig at Cascades Park Amphitheater in Tallahassee, on May 27th. The band is very young, starting in 2020 with their debut EP He Seems Upset, but has already tour with The Happy Fits and The Beaches… and established a fanbase. You can tell they do have their fans, when audience members were often shouting out “We love you Franco!” (then followed by “We love you Robbie!” when they thought Robbie wasn’t getting enough love).”

Particle Kid and Daniel Lanois
Particle Kid and Daniel Lanois
Los Angeles–based singer–songwriter, musician, visual artist, and activist Particle Kid (musical identity of Micah Nelson) and artist and producer Daniel Lanois have announced The Ocean Floor, a collaboration album set for February 26 via Loosegroove Records.
The album’s first single “Even the Birds” is out now.
They explained the song title and the meaning of the song:
Particle Kid was on tour with the Flaming Lips in ‘23 and we had a day off somewhere. I was sitting alone by a river that ran under a little street bridge. A bird flew out from under the bridge and swooped up into the air. I followed the bird thinking it would disappear into the infinite horizon, but it plopped down onto a tree just a hundred feet away. I thought ‘even the birds can’t get outta this town…’ and the rest of the lyrics appeared. It’s a ‘grass is always greener’ sort of song—wherever you go, there you are. Sometimes the best move is to stay put even if you have the chance to fly away. I had initially recorded a sketchy demo version of this song on my laptop in a hotel room somewhere on the road and sent it to Dan. I’m pretty sure some of the sounds from that hotel room demo ended up on the record version! That funky bass line is a combo of me playing Moog Taurus pedals at Daniel’s house and Aroyn Day playing his electric bass when we later recorded it with the live band.

2/28 – Joshua Tree, CA – Joshua Tree Retreat Center

Tim Platt
Tim Platt
Comedian Tim Platt’s debut album Teeth Like Beak is out now on (Abso Lutely Records). The stand-up album mixes songs with “hilarious songs with outrageous character work, absurd one-liners with confessional stories, and genius originality with a guitar that just won’t stay in tune.” The record, directed by Sebastian DiNatale, was recorded live at Union Hall in Brooklyn, NY on February 29th, 2024.
Platt talks about working with the record label
Abso Lutely has introduced me to so many comedians that I’ve become obsessed with. I’ve always been in awe of how Dave [Kneebone] and Abso produce shows that are ambitious, specific, and unlike anything else on screen. It is so exciting to share in that legacy with this new label, which is equally committed to putting out the next coolest thing from the next most innovative comedian with whom you’re about to become obsessed.
