I don’t think anyone likes the name YXSTABY (“YX-Stabby”?), but that’s the name of the IKEA and Xbox collaboration. The IKEA’s YXSTABY Gaming Event Weekend is taking place this weekend (October 10-11, 2026). The event is free, but if you want the free exclusive keychain, you need to register with IKEA… which means you need to create an IKEA account.
Weekend Gamer here. As I previously mentioned, I did commit myself to checking out the Xbox and IKEA collab, at the Jacksonville’s IKEA store. The so-named YXSTABY Gaming Event takes place across the USA this weekend (October 10 and 11), offering fans a free keychain, various giveaways, costume contests (at 1pm), gaming trivia, scavenger hunt, and a special IKEA / Xbox Swedish Bistro box for $11.99 (available for a limited time).
Although IKEA certainly put in the effort with all these special events, the truth is I was anxious to get back to covering WasabiCon 2026… so I did not spend that much time exploring all the YXSTABY options. I was interested in seeing the cosplayers at 1pm, but it was just a matter of lack of time on my schedule.
The YXSTABY display is right by the entrance, to show customers what’s new for IKEA. I am assuming all of these new items are also part of their regular gaming desk display (I did not look).
I did get to physically sit on one of the YXSTABY controller chair. I thought it might change my mind on how I feel about the chair… but I still didn’t really “get it”. I didn’t really like that it wobbles (it was designed intentionally designed that way as a joystick).
The Xbox Controller displays looked really cool in person. I would love to get one, but not at $30. Maybe I’ll cave in eventually, and just buy one for my Fallout custom controller.
I can report that the keychain is pretty cool. Maybe they can sell it at $5, I wouldn’t charge anymore. It’s pretty heavy, made of metal and has a superdeformed Halo Spartan holding an IKEA tool. It’s cool, but I’m not sure it would be worth the effort for gamers to drive all the way to IKEA to get one.
I also tried out the IKEA Swedish Bistro box, featuring the YXSTABY branding, which also included the reusable cup (with lid). The size of the cup perfectly fits a Keurig coffee machine. The meal includes two hotdogs, chips, a Cinnabon, a gummy cola treats.
I think the whole event was a good way for IKEA to advertise this new Xbox furniture. It was free, and overall is good branding for both IKEA and Xbox.
