What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet

■ Chvrches
Chvrches is a Scottish synth-pop band from Glasgow, formed in September 2011. Band Members: Lauren Mayberry (lead vocals, additional synthesizers, samplers), Iain Cook (synthesizers, guitar, bass, vocals), Martin Doherty (synthesizers, samplers, vocals), and Jonny Scott (touring/unofficial member since 2018)
Chvrches
It’s been a long time, but Scottish electro-pop trio announced their fifth album All The King’s Men, set for release on January 22, 2027… with the lead single “Roses” available to preview now.
We thought the band broke up, as singer Lauren Mayberry was already fast on her solo project (stopping by the Fine Line in 2025), and Martin Doherty and Jonny Scott started their The Leaving project with Ultimate Buzz released earlier this year, via Diggers Factory … but it looks like the trio is back together again.
We last saw Chvrches in Oct 2018 and wrote, “As for Chvrches their indiepop/dance/synthpop sound is more popular than ever, as evident by their ability to sell out their shows every time they play in Minnesota. Martin Doherty summed it up on stage, “It’s nice to be back. Time and time again, you keep selling out every time we come here. Thank you for that.” It’s been three years since their last album, Every Open Eye, so with the third album, Lauren Mayberry said that they wanted to take their time with Love is Dead. They approach the record by closely working with a producer, at first with David Stewart, but ultimately with Greg Kurstin and Steve Mac for final production. The result is that Love is Dead is a polished album, and their songs on the album are both very poppy, but at the same time, very vulnerable. It’s a good sound for the trio, and Mayberry had already mentioned that they had those songs in mind for “more of a live experience.””

Mondo Cozmo
Mondo Cozmo
Los Angeles, by the way of Philadelphia, Mondo Cozmo (Josh Ostrander) teamed up with Jim James (from My Morning Jacket) for “White Roses.” The song will feature on Ostrander’s fifth studio album, Sweet Forever, arriving November 20 via Last Gang Records.
Ostrander explains how the collaboration came about:
Jim’s manager heard the song and sent it to him. He loved it, sent his vocal in. He’s like, ‘Do whatever you want with it. I’m honored to sing on it,’ and I couldn’t believe that.”

We saw Mondo Cozmo in March 2022 and wrote, “Philly-raised, LA-based singer-songwriter Joshua Ostrander, aka Mondo Cozmo, opened the evening with a forty minute set of his “chorus-heavy folk-rock”, in support of upcoming third album, This is for the Barbarians(on Last Gang Records), out on April 8th (also his birthday and when they happen to be playing his hometown) though >shhh<, attendees at the merch booth might have had an early chance at it. The album is named in honor of a group of of 80’s Bay Area writers who would gather at a Cafe Barbar and talk about the world and, recorded in the mountains during the pandemic, it deals with its isolation and getting older, among other themes. “Good evening everyone, I hope this finds you well” were Ostrander’s first words sung on stage, initial lines from the set and new album-opening single, “Electrify My Love”.”
Mondo Cozmo will be heading out on tour.

Tindersticks Dog Roses
Tindersticks
Wow, haven’t heard from English band Tindersticks a while… Looks like they’re still around, announcing the release of Dog Roses, their 15th studio album, set for March 12, 2027 via City Slang Records.
I think the last time I heard from them was in the early 2000 when singer Stuart Staples compared his band’s cult status to Morrissey: We are one with morrissey. Under-rated, morose, and from the depths of England. File that under Registered Historical Facts.
Staples talks about the new Dog Roses album:
With our last album, 2023’s Soft tissue, we felt like we were looking over the fence into a new landscape, maybe even leaning over. Making 15 albums we have learned that sometimes there are steps forward, sometimes there are leaps. Soft tissue was a great step, but it was time to try and leap over that fence…. Most things I have learned, that I thought I knew about making albums proved to be of little use when making Dog roses. I have always had a strong sense of time and place in my writing – but sometimes while making this album it felt like trying to catch only a fragrance or the feeling of the knot in my stomach, or catching a glance of myself in a mirror – the 1000 questions, thoughts, emotions you can feel in one moment.

P.S. I had to look it up, but dog roses are wild flowers, known for its soft pink or white blossoms and bright red autumn rosehips

Low Tide Bread and Roses
Low Tide
New York duo Low Tide recently released Bread & Roses on October 23rd, 2026. The sophomore album is described as falling in love and full of love songs. After all, “love songs are as old as songs themelves”.
Singer and violinist Eli Oberman said
I started affectionately referring to them as anti-capitalist love songs. What I mean by that is that I’m writing about love through the prism of rage. Rage at not being able to love or live fully because in order to survive, we have to trade the limited hours of our lives for someone else’s profit. I guess being in love just really makes me want to seize the means of production, what can I say… We need to be fighting for more than survival. We need to be fighting for a world where we can love, make art, be good stewards of the earth, and feed each others’ spirits.

Elena Pinderhughes a Rose in Bloom
Elena Pinderhughes
Flutist, composer, and vocalist Elena Pinderhughes just released “a rose in bloom”, taken from her debut album i hope you feel it too (out October 23).
Pinderhughes talks about the single:
I think there’s something really beautiful about the kind of love that makes you feel safe enough to slow down and just be yourself. Whether that’s love you give yourself or love you receive from someone else, I believe the right kind of love allows us to bloom. We become softer, more open, and more comfortable in who we are. That’s the feeling I was experiencing when we made ‘a rose in bloom,’ and I wanted the song to hold onto that warmth. Something intimate and peaceful that brings you back to yourself and reminds you how beautiful the simple moments in life can be.

Tour Dates:
November 2-3 – New York, NY – Blue Note
November 4 – Philadelphia, PA – The Loft @ City Winery Philadelphia
November 6 – Orlando, FL – Judson’s
November 7 – Brattleboro, VT – Vermont Jazz Center

Blase by Anabel Rose
Gemini Rose
New York City’s dream-pop artist gemini rose will be releasing her debut album on November 13, 2026. In the meantime, you can hear her third single, “Indigo.” This follows her previous two 2026 singles, “in R.E.M.” and “too many roses”.
The debut album was produced by Anthony Lopardo and features a guest appearance from KAYTHEWAVE, who lent her vocals and penned an evocative section of the song’s lyrics in “firelight café.”
Here is the description provided:
Musically, the album represents a natural, organic evolution. gemini rose, who considers herself a writer first and a musician second, brought acoustic chords, lyrics, and raw melodies to Lopardo, who helped guide the tracks into an immersive dream-pop reality. Anchored by reverb-drenched guitar tones, lo-fi electronic textures, and lush, stacked vocal harmonies, the production deliberately keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on the weight of the lyrics.

Isla Rose Strip Out Every Part of Me
Isla Rose
American-British alt-pop artist Isla Rose released “Strip Out Every Part of Me” on October 16, 2026. The lead single is from her forthcoming EP Pulse.
Rose is an alt-pop artist blending sultry, atmospheric vocals with pulse-pounding electronic production. Her debut EP No Answers cann be heard on BBC Introducing support and Love Island USA. Her music is described as “Lana Del Rey meets Lorde.”
Rose comments:
I wrote this song when I was finally done compromising. It’s about what happens when you stop performing for a culture or tradition that doesn’t fit you anymore. It’s honest, defiant, and the absolute perfect entry point for the Pulse EP.

Taleen Kali
Taleen Kali
Log Angeles band Taleen Kali released “Black Rose”, the single taken from their upcoming Aepex, due out February 26, 2027, via Dum Dum Records (Kristin Kontrol’s record label). The song features AFI’s Hunter Burgan on saxophone. Taleen Kali is described as if Blondie and My Bloody Valentine had a lovechild.
Band leader Taleen Kali adds:
‘Black Rose’ is our dark desert song, featuring Hunter Burgan of AFI on sax. Every L.A. band needs to have a psyched out song, so this is Taleen Kali’s post-punk rendition. I wrote this one out of a desire to have a fireball set opener with relentless avalanching drums, a song that could collapse in on itself at the end. We have a trio solo at the end which has vocal runs, guitars, and saxophones melting into one another.

The band will also be playing at LA’s The Airliner on October 29th as part of KCRW’s School Night series
