■ Fuzzy MacheteFuzzy Machete is an all-female “nerdpunk” band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, known for blending a straightforward garage rock style with references to sci-fi, fantasy, and nerd culture.
I’m a little late to the party, but I just got word that Tara Grimmer from Minneapolis band Fuzzy Machete had passed away on October 15, 2026. I first met Tara, on her birthday, when they opened up for Sick of Sarah in 2011, and since then, they’ve become a W♥M favorite.
Krissandra, from Fuzzy Machete, writes:
As many of you have heard, my best friend Tara Grimmer passed away. Our friendship had many chapters and I am grateful for every one of them. She changed my whole life. There is nothing good in my world that she didn’t have a hand in. She gave me music. A community. Sisters. A universe of wonder. There has never been or ever will be a woman like her. She was a singular star and I will love her forever.
We’ve seen the band on and off for a time, and below are two interviews I did with the band for W♥M Radio:
Rest in peace, Tara Grimmer.
