Minneapolis This Week (November 1, 2026)
Here is what is going on this week in Minneapolis/St Paul, ending on November 1, 2026: • The Longest Johns at Varsity Theater (Oct 26, 2026) • Sienna Spiro at First Avenue (Oct 28, 2026) • Tear Dungeon at Eagles Club No. 34 (October 29, 2026) • Charlie Parr at State Theatre (October 30, 2026) • Allison Russell at First Avenue (Nov 1, 2026)
The Longest Johns is on their “The Ends of the Earth Tour”, stopping by the Varsity Theater, in Minneapolis, on October 26, 2026.
We saw the Longest Johns in March 2022 and wrote, “The Longest Johns has some of the most diverse fanbase, from very old fans to the youngest fan (a 10 year old boy with his dad) to teenagers. The dancefloor was completely packed. While the group had a drummer and guitarist, the most important instruments seems to be their vocals, which Andy Yates, Dave Robinson, Jonathan “JD” Darley, and Robbie Sattin were happy to display for us. They’re known for singing traditional “sea shanties”, they also write their own songs (in that English style of course).”

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and guitarist Charlie Parr will headline the State Theatre, in Minneapolis, on October 30, 2026. It’s likely he will be performing the new album Rooming House with drummer Dave King (of The Bad Plus and Happy Apple).
We saw Charlie Parr in November 2022 and wrote, “Charlie Parr opened up with his weathered steel guitar and friend, Mick, playing what Parr called: “The washing machine.” Even with no band Parr had no trouble filling the cavernous space of the Armory with an earthy voice that rose to all three levels and into the rafters of the venue. Born in Austin, MN and now residing in Duluth, Parr’s musical style of folk and blues seems to be from another era. Still, he instantly connected with the sold out crowd with a generous set of 12 songs ranging from a career that has produced 16 albums. A favorite of the evening was “Cheap Wine” in which a liquor owner fails to see much difference between his customers: All these old ladies Comin’ in here buyin’ cheap wine Ain’t no better than all these bums Comin’ in here and buy cheap wine”

Nashville-based musician, poet and actor Allison Russell will be headlining First Avenue, in Minneapolis, on November 1, 2026. Allison was named Billboard Women In Music Canada’s “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” in 2025, won a Grammy for “Eve Was Black”, and won the Americana Award’s Album of the Year in 2022… as well as numerous other awards.
The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.
Allison Russell has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold goes to ACLU and their work to protect the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in the United States.
We saw Allison in July 2026 and said, “Grammy-winning Montreal-born and Nashville-based musician, poet and actor Allison Russell and the three additional musicians that formed the Rainbow Coalition set the tone with an uplifting performance that blended folk, Americana, gospel, and roots music. She opened with spoken verse and her stage presence and authenticity immediately won over the audience. Her debut solo album Outside Child was released in 2021, followed by The Returner in 2023, and the latest is the just-released In The Hour of Chaos, via Concord/Fantasy Records. Russell and band’s performance was rooted in a joyous optimism (which counters the current dour times) and the songs both honored her heritage, with 2026’s “Cold April” even lyrically leaning into a Prince reference, and was open with her vulnerabilities, such as on the closing “Really Real”, an in-studio collaboration with Norah Jones.”
Autumn Nicholas to open.
