DJ Shadow – Stem (Cops ‘N’ Robbers mix)

DJ Shadow (Josh Davis) is a mixer and turntable artist out in Davis, California. Somehow amazingly enough, in 1995, he made this little album called Endtroducing... (released in 1996), which consists of nothing but sampled music (it made it into the Guinness World Records for "First Completely Sampled Album" for their 2001 edition). I'm sure, around this time, there were other experimental sampling artists out there, but DJ Shadow is recognized as the first. There is even a book about it from 33 1/3 Series

Francoise Hardy – Catch a Falling Star

Lisa sent me this Francoise Hardy mix cd a while back, which I was listening in my car for a while. Anyroad, I was driving with a passenger and she put on the Hardy CD and kind of listened and skip and skip (which is kind of understandable since the majority of Hardy's works are in French and neither of us understood it).

Rhythms del Mundo project

.The previous year I was writing music with a friend at his beachfront house in a little fishing village on the Southern coast of Sri Lanka. A few months later that little village and many of its' inhabitants were almost totally obliterated by the Tsunami. I was extremely moved and upset by the tragedy of so many lives being lost or altered forever. The village had to be completely rebuilt as well as the livelihood of countless fishermen and shopkeepers. This was the event that sparked off this project. I knew I had to do something for those villagers.  But what could I do?  As it turned out, this project began to take shape with the formation of a new organization, Artists' Project Earth (APE), which comes to the aid of natural disaster victims and raises awareness for climate change

Dolores O’Riordan – Ordinary Day

Dolores O'Riordan (ex-frontswoman of the Cranberries) has a new album out in May '07, called Are You Listening?. Her record company, Santuary, decided to release her new single in North America only. And only on iTunes. I have a problem with this, I really don't like region-locking and I don't like iTunes' DRM. I will probably wait to get it on CD anyway.
