Howlin’ Pelle and The Hives are back with a new album called The Black and White Album and it goes on sale tomorrow (November 13th) in the US. I’ve no idea why the album was pushed back to November, considering that Europe released the album on October 15th.

These guys are from Fagersta, Sweden, and I first heard about them through their big hit single: “Hate to Told You So”. It wasn’t until “Main Offender” did I realized these guys can really rock.

Their appearance on Jools Holland was equally energic and hilarious, especially when Pelle said this during the song:

How do you spell The Hives?
G-E-N-I-O-U-S

Despite the word being misspelled, you still like these guys because you realized he’s probably misspelling it on purpose. Or perhaps showing how both clever and stupid he really is? Either way, they seem like a fun bunch of guys.

So, I’ve only barely had a chance to listen to the album, but so far, it’s pretty much what you’d expect from The Hives.

The obvious single off the album is “Tick Tick Boom” which is an explosive (haha) track to start off the album. Since the video is pretty much everywhere, I’m going to put up another song. I like “You Got It All… Wrong”, it’s one of the ‘hivey’ songs off the album.

As for tracks I didn’t care for – there is one track called “A Stroll Through Hive Manor Corridors” which is all instrumental. I thought really slowed down the album and doesn’t fit well right in the middle of the album.

The Hives are currently touring Europe and if you live in the US, you can buy the album tomorrow at most retail stores.

PS, Watch the Hives videos on Stage 6. For that infamous genius incident, see youtube.
