George Perez

George Pérez was an American comic book artist and writer, who worked primarily as a penciller. He came to prominence in the 1970s penciling Fantastic Four and The Avengers for Marvel Comics. In the 1980s, he penciled The New Teen Titans, which became one of DC Comics’ top-selling series. He penciled DC’s landmark limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths, followed by relaunching Wonder Woman as both writer and penciller. In the meantime, he worked on other comics published by Marvel, DC, and other companies into the 2010s. He was known for his detailed and realistic rendering, and his facility with complex crowd scenes

Book Report: DC Finest – Crisis on Infinite Earths

You guys already know what a big fan I am of DC Finest, the affordable line of books from DC Comics, collecting year-long run in one giant book (average about 400-500 pages per volume). I plan on collecting all these books, if I can find them for a reasonable price. I usually will buy if I see them for $25 or less, but there are some exceptions. I paid full price for DC Finest: Teen Titans - Judas Contract and for the latest release DC Finest: Events - Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One. The book came out on Tuesday (Oct 21, 2025).

How to remove price stickers on a comic books or magazines without damaging it

If you’re a thrift shopper or just enjoy going through clearance bins, you’ll often buy things that have non-removable price sticker on it. Usually I’ll just peel it off, but sometimes the stickers are impossible to remove without damaging the item.

George Perez Gallery

Hello, this is a call to other George Perez fans, who might be able to help me out. As you know, my old webhost, TypePad is closing its door on September 30, 2025, and I’m temporarily moving George Perez-related material to wheartm.com (WordPress). If you can point me in a hosting solution (preferably free or very low cost), or you can donate storage - please email me.

Book Report: DC Finest

Here is a rare book report for you. Amazon has reduced many of the physical-only DC Finest books, as part of their Father’s Day sale. In addition, if you buy two books, you save an additional 50% off the second book, resulting in about less than $20 per book. Retail price is $40, so this is a very good savings, considering that these titles were launched fairly recently.

RIP Dan Storper (Putumayo) and Peter David (The Incredible Hulk)

We have just heard that Dan Storper the founder, creator, and president of Putumayo World Music, has died. In non-music death news, American comic book writer Peter David has recently died at the age of 68. Anyone who have followed comic books, will not be that surprised by his passing.

Misfit Corner Comics at Beach Boulevard Flea Market

By now you all know my sad tale of losing about half my comic book collection when I moved to Jacksonville. I have sworn to never buy anything again… but you all knew that wasn’t going to last. I just have to be smart about what goes into my collection and what I can live without. One thing that I know I can’t get back into is collecting toys. Toys takes up so much space, valuable space that I don’t have.

Twin Cities Con 2024

The most successful geek culture gathering in the Minneapolis/St Paul is officially Twin Cities Con, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Every year, this convention is growing in attendance. We thought last year’s attendance was amazing, this year seemed almost double! With extra fans in attendance, the organizers decided to add an extra security screening to get into the Exhibit Hall… which caused delay to get into the room.

Happy Crisis on Infinite Earths day

I’ve previously mentioned that the very first comic book that I purchased with my own money, a whole $1, was Crisis on Infinite Earths #1. I didn’t know it then, but this little comic book forever changed my life forever. As it turns out, January 3, 1985, was the date that the book came out (even though the newsstand date shows April 1985). Of course, I didn’t buy it in January… in fact, it was probably closer to March, as #3 was already on the stands.

Site Update: George Perez Website 6.0

As many of you know, my oldest website, the George Perez Website started in 1998 and eventually found its home on Google Sites in 2008. The website lived there for 13 years, until Google decided it wasn’t profitable for them to maintain... and decided to shut down the classic site service (they offered a new inferior product in its place).
