How to remove price stickers on a comic books or magazines without damaging it
If you’re a thrift shopper or just enjoy going through clearance bins, you’ll often buy things that have non-removable price sticker on it. Usually I’ll just peel it off, but sometimes the stickers are impossible to remove without damaging the item.
When it comes to comic books or magazines, you really, really don’t want to remove the stickers by hand, because you’ll tear it or ruin the cover.
Thanks to Marcus, who said he got this tip from a customer. You can just use a regular hair dryer. I’ve just tested out, this little trick works! After a minute or two of hot air blowing on the sticker, the adhesive won’t hold the sticker and you can easily just peel it off using tweezers or your fingernails.
I’ve previously used alcohol or vinegar for hardcover, but this thin magazine or comic book, you need to use a hairblower so you don’t damage the cover.
I don’t know if different hair dryers are more or less effective, but all I had was this small ConAir 1875 hair blower that I bought for $25. It generated a lot of heat in a short amount of time… and got the job done.
Note: There is still a sticky residue left behind. You can probably use some sort of paper or wipes to clean it off.
