Deep Sea Diver at xBk Live, Des Moines (July 27, 2025)

Back in May, I had the pleasure of discovering Deep Sea Diver for myself (think how we view Columbus today vs. how Columbus viewed himself in 1492, you know, after sailing the ocean blue) when they kicked off The Current’s Happy Hour series for 2025 at Nine Mile Brewing Company in Bloomington (review here).

Comic-Con International: San Diego (aka SDCC) is the marquee US comic book convention and multi-genre entertainment event held annually at the San Diego Convention Center that focuses not only on comic books and science fiction/fantasy but encompassed a broad spectrum of pop culture and entertainment, including films, television shows, video games, interactive multimedia, and more.

Something for the Weekend: Palmfest 2025

Announced only a week ago, Palmfest 2025 is taking place this weekend. Just happenstance, I am temporarily in Minneapolis for the recent Minnesota Yacht Club Music Festival and this would be a good way to officially say goodbye to Palmers Bar. As you know with the recent news that the bar will permanently shut down in September 14, 2025.

The Music of Prince featuring ex-NPG and Brown Mark at First Avenue, Minneapolis MN (2025-07-10)

The NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice presented "The Music of Prince" at First Avenue in Minneapolis which featured former members of Prince’s late ‘80s/early ‘90s backing band, The New Power Generation and special guest Brown Mark from Purple Rain-era fabled band, The Revolution, to celebrate Prince's music and support the mission of the NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice.

The final day of the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival, at Harriet Island, in St Paul, was looking to be nearly perfect weather and was certainly the heaviest attended crowd of the festival early in the day.

With no real rain in the forecast for Day 2 of the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival, things were looking clear for the full slate of bands. Organizers and Festival staff kept things moving smoothly, which was impressive given the large number of people in the relatively small Harriet Island Regional Park.
