It was an evening with Cat Power, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of The Greatest album. An extremely good backing band highlighted Cat Power’s uniquely excellent sound.

Jonathan Richman returned to First Avenue with drummer Tommy Larkins for a phone-free night of unfiltered sincerity. Mixing new songs from Only Frozen Sky Anyway with old favorites, Richman danced between languages, laughter, and tenderness — proving again that simplicity, delivered honestly, can still rock a crowd.
Not a popular opinion, but No Need to Argue is not my favorite The Cranberries album. I prefer the later records, particularly the Bury the Hatchet-era, when I felt the band was in top-form and understood how to write blockbuster songs. Still, No Need to Argue is important because this is the band’s breakout record.
I’ve never seen so many birds and insects in one place, it’s pretty crazy. I’ve already seen two different snakes and plenty of bugs (some of which I could care less). So, enjoy all the wildlife that I’ve seen around Jacksonville.
Sparks is a musical tandem of Russell and Ron Mael, two brothers born and raised on the coast of California, who found a musical home in London. Their musical journey started quite a while ago in 1971. Since then they have recorded 28 studio albums and over 500 songs. They are currently touring to promote their latest release Mad, but they had plenty of other songs to dip into during their almost two hour concert.
Right now, the priority is WordPress, and the more I work on this current website (wheartm.com), the more I am understanding how it works. Who knows, maybe one day, I’ll be an expert.
So here are some behind-the-scenes updates that you may not be aware of.
I've been busy updating the We Heart Music About Page (which you can access on the very top menu, next to Contact, on the front page). It's kind of fun to take a drive down memory lane. As you can see from the timeline, there's been a lot of changes since 2007. I wish I had taken more screen shots at random times, rather than just waiting for an event to trigger a manual snapshot.

Last Friday (January 3, 2025) was the 40th anniversary of Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 (January 3, 1985), as I have already previously written last year that this comic is important for several reasons. One, it introduced Charlton characters, two, it started the annual crossover for DC Comics, and three, personally for me, it started my journey in collecting comics.
The only time I saw Voxtrot, it was on their tour with Au Revoir Simone, who I saw with Peter, Bjorn & John at First Avenue on 09 May 2007. Heather from Au Revoir Simone came on stage to sing the girl part in “Young Folks.” I thought the Au Revoir Simone girls were so handsome.
