Nobody
I actually own the first Nobody film on Bluray, as I did enjoy this goofy action film. It stars Bob Odenkirk as an unlikely fighter. I mean, look at him! He’s Better Call Saul! Why would anyone think he can kick butt? Yet, somehow, an aged Odenkirk makes it work. In the first film, he’s retired from that life… but a series of events forced him back, like the John Wick series. Turns out, you don’t want to mess with this “nobody.”
Normal (2026)
I didn’t hate Normal, but I didn’t love it either. It’s a weird quirky comedy/action film starring comedian and “Better Call Saul” Bob Odenkirk. I don’t know why they keep trying to make Odenkirk an action star (he’s the star to the John Wick-ish Nobody)… maybe it’s because he just doesn’t look like an action star. But that schtick is getting old.
Normal technically came out in 2025 in Canada, but it finally made its way to the USA in April 2026.
I was mostly interested in seeing this movie because I think Odenkirk is great… and for the fun fact that Normal, the fictional city, is in Minnesota.
I’ll get to the point: it has a terrible story about the Yakuzas (Japanese gangsters) operating in the town of Normal. It is not believable; the plot is just bad. Odenkirk plays a (new) sheriff in Normal and he uncovers this thing that caused the whole town to try and kill him. I was thinking, maybe they could have just re-written this Normal movie to be Nobody 3 or something. I mean, hear my pitch: after the events of Nobody 2, he got divorced and now starting over in Normal, Minnesota, by himself (no kids, no wife). They don’t have to call it Nobody 3, maybe Nobody: Normal.
The action in Normal is less hand-to-hand combat, but more like shooting and blowing things up. I guess it’s more down to earth, vs insane kung foolerly.
Like I said, I don’t hate the movie, but I also thought it was predictable and a little boring. I kind of wish they leaned more on that Fargo-thing and really go koo-koo, but they play it like a tiny town in the middle of nowhere… where everybody knows you (and they all have shotguns to try and kill you).
I don’t think there will be a Normal 2, or at least I hope not, but if there is a sequel … who knows, I might try and see it. I’m just curious how they can continue the story. I just hope it’s not the Yakuzas… maybe bring in the Russians.

How to Make a Killing (2026)
This semi-recent film How to Make a Killing is a movie based on an old British film called Kind Hearts and Coronets… which in turn was based on the book Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal by Roy Horniman.
I’m certain the new black comedy film changed a few things around, to keep it fresh and modern, but basically it is about a man who has been outcast from a wealthy family. To get his inheritance, he plots and murders each of his seven relatives.
Most of the story is told through the main character Becket, played by Glen Powell (who I last saw in The Running Man remake). Becket is four hours before his execution, so it’s his last meal and he’s telling his story to a priest. You know how this story ends, but because we’re hearing the story through Becket’s point of view – we’re not really sure how reliable he is. After all, he could be lying, or, from his perspective, things appeared differently.
For a while, it looks like it is going well for Becket… no one suspects a thing and, after the first few killings, he’s actually rewarded for it (gaining a job, gaining a girlfriend…etc.) But of course, things start to fall apart… and when they do, it hits like a car crash.
The ending wasn’t exactly how I thought it would go. I mean, I know he’s about to be executed for crimes – but it’s not what you think.
I think it is a good story with great twists and turns. My only complaint is all the flashbacks… I wish it was just told from start to finish.
