Richard Cheese
Our favorite lounge cover lover singer Richard Cheese is offering a giant 20 complete album download, called Richard Cheese Mucho Queso Collection (20 Albums), for free – at least until Monday.
My personal favorite Cheese covers, “Star Wars Cantina” (update: they have a live/truncated version called “Welcome To The Cantina”) and “Ice Ice Baby” is not included in the 300 songs, but there are some weird covers here: “Clint Eastwood”, “How Soon is Now?”, (a cheery “one for the ladies…”) “Rape Me”, “Careless Whisper”, “Three’s Company Theme”, etc.

Low Cut Connie
Low Cut Connie recently paid tribute to one of his musical heroes, Prince, with a cover of “Little Red Corvette”, ahead of Prince’s passing on April 21. The live recording was taken from his performance at The Current, in Minneapolis (back in March when he was headlining the sold-out Turf Club show).
Yes, of course, we were there to witness the live show – and, yes, he did cover “Little Red Corvette” live. As we wrote in March 2026: “Beverly was blusey and delightful and a dedication to The Current seemed spot on and was a perfect number. A few more songs and it was the end of the main set, with Private Lives being a rollicking number that the crowd bellowed along with. Without leaving the stage, Weiner jumped into two more numbers, asking for the crowd to join on a cover of Prince’s Little Red Corvette. Dirty Water brought that nearly rockabilly piano and crooning vocals to the top and Adam Weiner had put the finishing touches on a great evening.”
Adam Weiner explains:
It’s 10 years since his passing, and Prince’s music means more now than ever. He had a vision of diversity, radical love and openness in his art that is more crucial in today’s America than ever. He elevated women, he elevated love, he elevated our consciousness. ‘Little Red Corvette’ is the ultimate Saturday nite song, and I will never get tired of it. It was an honor to perform it in Prince’s hometown at the Current, a radio station he loved and supported.

Low Cut Connie (Adam Weiner) continues his tour (see dates on the sidebar) and readying the release of his forthcoming album Livin in the USA to be released on July 3 via Contender Records.

Phantom Of The Opera on the Battlefield (Apr 8, 2026)
Angels on the Battlefield
Los Angeles’ symphonic progressive metal ensemble Angels on the Battlefield just released their cover of “Phantom Of The Opera”, featuring Eli Santana (from Holy Grail and Ignite).
Here’s how they describe the song:
The instrumental offering unleashes the darkness and seductive power of the track’s narrative through the dynamic arrangement. Thundering percussion and driving rhythms provide intensity and movement, while the vocal duet between Christine and the Phantom is brought to life by JD McGibney and Eli Santana on lead guitars. The atmosphere is enveloped with Gothic allure by means of orchestral layers and tolling bells.

ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD inject their own distinctive qualities into the track including some unexpected moments. Sudden shifts in instrumental arrangements and embellished guitars entwine compelling elements and charisma into the sound.

Produced by ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD, the track was recorded at Counter Communications with engineering, mixing and mastering by Chris Wirsig. “Phantom of the Opera” cover art was created by JD McGibney.

Losing My Religion
by Oscar and the Wolf (Mar 27, 2026)
Oscar and the Wolf
Belgian artist Oscar and the Wolf (aka Max Colombie) recently released his cover of “Losing My Religion”.
Max explains why he decided to cover the song:
The song was released the year I was born, in 1991. I remember hearing it when I was younger and feeling like it understood something I couldn’t explain yet. There’s a tension in that song that never resolves. It just sits there, quietly burning. R.E.M. created something very rare with it. It’s fragile, obsessive, and almost uncomfortable at times. That’s probably why it stayed with me for so long.

When we started playing around with the idea of covering it, I didn’t want to touch it unless it felt honest. The original is already perfect in its own way. The only thing that made sense was to approach it from a different emotional place. This version came together late at night in the studio, very instinctively. We stripped things down and let the tension breathe. I wanted it to feel intimate, almost like you’re overhearing something you weren’t supposed to hear. Lately, the world feels heavy. There’s a lot of fear, a lot of noise, a lot of people forgetting how fragile everything actually is. Songs like this remind me that underneath all of that, we’re still just humans trying to make sense of our doubts, our love, our obsessions. It’s less about covering a song and more about sitting inside it for a moment. Because some songs belong to everyone. This one just happens to mean a lot to me.

World in My Eyes by 12090 A.D. (April 9, 2026)
12090 A.D.
Brooklyn-based synth pop duo 12090 A.D. (Tim Kuhl and Anna Copa Cabanna) just released a dreamy cover of Depeche Mode’s “World in My Eyes”.
Tim talked about his inspiration to cover the song:
‘World in My Eyes’ is one of our first cover song experiments. Such a great tune by Depeche Mode. It popped up on the radio one night when i was driving home. I heard something else in there this time around. A new way. I got home and made the arrangement almost immediately. Once Anna put down the vocal, I realized this could work. It just feels like one of our other original compositions. Pretty cool.
