The annual NME Awards is happening on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 (tickets to the event goes on sale Feb 3rd at 9am). Host for this year is Jack Whitehall (I think Jarvis Cocker hosted last year, or was it the year before?). Bands confirmed to play are: Kasabian, The Vaccines, and Florence + The Machine (with The Horrors).

It should be a good night, I like all those bands.

So, let’s start taking some bets on the nominees (hint: I would put some money on Arctic Monkeys, they have won numerous NME awards from 2006-2008).

Matt Helders, Arctic Monkeys, adds:

We’re up for all the big ones – we’re very happy. We had a lot of fun making ‘Suck It And See’ and it’s great to be up for Best Live Band. That’s all we do – record or play live – so it’s good to be recognised!

Yeah, the award might as well be theirs.
