Mogwai

Scottish post-rock band Mogwai will be in America from April through May, to tour for support of their eight studio album Rave Tapes, out now on Sub Pop Records.
Special thanks to Stuart Braithwaite for taking the time to answer …
With their extended soundscapes, unique time signatures and largely instrumental output, Scottish band Mogwai have garnered comparisons from everyone to My Bloody Valentine and Fugazi but have cultivated a unique sound that’s like nothing else out there. This past January saw the cerebral rockers release Rave Tapes, their first brand new collection of songs since 2011’s Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will and their second with Sub Pop. Over the years, the band has acquired a dedicated following, wowing audiences with their mesmerizing live shows.

On top of releasing albums, Mogwai have written several soundtracks including one for Darren Aronofsky’s 2006 film The Fountain and French television series Les Revenants.

Currently, the band is trekking across the States in support of Rave Tapes. Next Sunday, May 18th, the band will pay Minneapolis a visit by performing at First Avenue. Or if you have any friends or family in Iceland, catch a flight overseas for the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival there this July at Ásbrú, the former NATO base in Keflavík. Mogwai will be headlining the event that’s also featuring bands like Slowdive, Portishead, Kurt Vile and Low.
