South Dakota's EMA is the acronym of Erika M. Anderson. Anderson was originally the lead singer of Gowns, but by 2010 she released her debut album called Every Minor Arcana – Little Sketches On Tape via cassette tape (additional details can be found discogs.com).
A year later, EMA seemingly became a household name when Rolling Stones called her "Artist to Watch" for her sophomore album Past Life Martyred Saints.
EMA is back with her latest The Future's Void, which came out in April on Matador Records.
Exciting news is that EMA is currently on tour with Spoon, who we last saw at Rock the Garden 2014.

Excited to see the God Help the Girl film this September 5, 2014? This latest indie/musical film stars Emily Browning as Eve, and the nice part is that she also sings on the film's soundtrack. Browning is no stranger to singing, after all, she sang The Smiths' "Asleep" in the terrible film Sucker Punch….
Although I'm fond of the 2009 God Help the Girl album, I have to say that Browning's vocals is fresh and new.
God Help the Girl: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be out on September 2nd on Milan Records, but
those living in these cities can preview the album on the God Help the Girl Listening Parties.

Sydney-based singer/songwriter Em George recently released her video for her single "Truth". She is described as sounding and influenced by Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen.
She's fairly new, having only appeared last year with her first single "Murderers On the Inside," which made it on Triple J Unearthed and Home Brew. Eventually the track was optioned by HBO and remixed by Stephen Kozmeniuk (Kayne West, Madonna).
