Saturday evening’s gig proved to be a lesson in endurance for those ill-equipped to withstand the intense blast of sounds forced out of the 400 Bar’s meaty speakers. Chapel Hill, North Carolina’s Archers of Loaf

Slap Back is the new Sallie Ford album, and it is available now via Vanguard Records. With Slap Back, it would seem it does not feature her old band (The Sound Outside), but an entirely new band lineup: Anita Lee Elliot (Viva Voce & Blue Giant) on bass, Amanda Spring (Point Juncture, WA) on drums & Cristina Cano (Albatross & Siren & the Sea) on keyboards.

Co-headlining on this tour is Crooked Fingers, a North Carolina band led by Archers of Loaf’s Eric Bachmann.

Justina spoke with the band after their CMJ 2013 appearance and asked if they liked being compared to Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe, which singer Dave Gibson said he didn’t mind, “I really like Alex Ebert and his solo music.”
