Australia’s
Courtney Barnett is back in town to promote her third solo album Tell Me How You Really Feel.
Not to brag, but we’ve been writing about her since 2013: “It was love at first listen for me and Courtney Barnett. That first song was “Avant Gardening,” her irresistibly languid tale of suffering a panic attack while gardening in an Australian heat wave. “I feel proactive, I pull out weeds, all of a sudden I’m having trouble breathing in,” sings Courtney. In the remainder of the song, the ambulance is called and Courtney reflects on the mundane details of going to the hospital…”
Then, on her first U.S. tour, we wrote she sold out most of her headlining shows: Empty Bottle, Chicago (18 Feb 2014), Varsity Theater, Minneapolis (24 Jun 2014), and Rock the Garden (20 Jun 2015).
Then she teamed up with Kurt Vile and played:
Desert Daze, Joshua Tree (13 Oct 2017) and Palace Theatre, St Paul (25 Oct 2017).
Anyway, the Surly Brewing Co. show starts early at 4:30pm, which means the show will likely end early as well.
Special guests Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus to open.
