drummer Sheila E. (Sheila Escovedo) headlining First Avenue’s main room on December 12th.
Before the age of 20, she was already jamming with George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, Con Funk Shun, Marvin Gaye (on his final world tour), Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan, Patti LaBelle, Steve Nicks, and, of course, Prince.

If you didn’t know, Bird Streets is the stagename of Brooklyn-based musician John Brodeur. We actually caught Brodeur, when he was performing under his name, in April 2011, and said, “In contrast to the full Humbugs band, John Brodeur was very minimalistic with his one-man show. It’s kind of interesting to see Brodeur playing all the acoustic, loops, beat boxing, tambourine, etc., all in real-time.”
This time around, as Bird Streets, he will be accompanied with a live band.
