According to Variety: “Adam Schlesinger, a musician and songwriter highly regarded for his work as a member of Fountains of Wayne and an Emmy-winning songwriter for TV’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” has died as a result of coronavirus complications, Variety has confirmed. He was 52.”
I never saw Fountains of Wayne live, however, I did, like many of you, own a copy of their break-out album Welcome Interstate Managers, featuring that stupid catchy song, “Stacy’s Mom”.
The closest thing to seeing them live was watching their show, via DVD called No Better Place: Live in Chicago. Although in my review, I noted that the show was censored – the word “S****” removed from “Bright Future in Sales”. It was probably done as the show was intended for broadcast on national television…
Like I said, I never saw FoW live, but I have seen Adam before – he is actually in a band called Ivy. I have this photo of Ivy, and you can see Adam with Andy Chase behind him.
Photo of Ivy from 2005.
