Tanukichan at 7th Street Entry (Apr 26, 2023)

We previously saw Tanukichan in April 2023 and said, “Tanukichan came on stage shortly after and played selections from her two albums, Sundays and GIZMO. She seems to favor the new songs, possibly because she got to work with Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bear… which is very ethereal, noisy, and shoegazing. This is so weird, considering that Van Loon started as a fiddle player in a bluegrass band, before joining pop band Trails and Ways. Speaking of which, yes, of course, we’ve seen Trails and Ways before, in Jun 2015, writing: “Highlight of their show for me was their song finale, “Mtn Tune”, featuring a great guitar solo by Hannah Van Loon.”

We saw the Old 97’s in August 2024 and wrote, “The Old 97’s started off their set with “Falling Down”. Why that song? According to singer and guitarist Rhett Miller, you have to “start with a banger. Then follow that with two more bangers…. Three bangers—it wakes the audience up and it wakes you up.” He actually has a whole thought process in creating his setlist, including when you should talk, and set closer… you can read all about it at his Substack.”

Trivium at Mill City Nights (Sep 30, 2015)

We saw Trivium in Sep 2015 and wrote, “After an annoyingly long wait, it was finally time for Trivium. Apparently there was a meet and greet between Trivium and Tremonti which caused a fifty five minute gap in the music. Needless to say, the crowd seemed frustrated, but there was no mass exodus. The crowd waited, somewhat patiently, for Trivium to come up. The stage was set up complete with giant skulls with horns and light up eyes on either side of the stage. The crowd was instantly excited the moment the musicians stepped foot on the stage. Trivium is a heavy rock band from Florida that popped up on the scene back in the early 2000’s and has yet to slow down. They have already released six studio albums and nineteen singles.”

JINJER and Heriot to open.
